I'm still with CPR and this team

I am on the edge honestly. ISU needs to beat Tech, and needs to hang at least 40 on them, otherwise I might be done. Im sick on playing like **** at home, sick of being completely unprepared to start games (I think NDSU is the only game where ISU started fast), and sick of being embarrassed to say I'm an ISU fan.

I don't know how Jamie should proceed. I can agree that what's happened this year should probably get CPR fired. But then I see the talent on this team and I worry that if we go another direction with the coach then we risk losing a lot of that. With Sam looking really good at times this season and the receiving corp looking promising I can't help but think that there is a chance this group will finally out up some points. Even if they all stay, another new coordinator could really hamper what they could do.

So I guess I'd give this staff one more year to prove us all wrong. Then if we don't see improvements a new staff can start with a new QB and hopefully the cupboard not empty.

I'm there with you, sorta. I'm trying to keep the injuries, the new OC and all that in perspective. But this team just isn't good - and it's year 6. To go 0-for (most likely) in the conference just isn't acceptable. So I'm really ready for a change should it come.

But I'm not going to stop cheering and supporting our team and coach. I honestly don't think some miraculous win against Tech or even WVU or TCU will make much difference in JP's mind. If he feels it's over and we can financially remove CPR, then he will. If he feels there's a future, he won't. One win, the spreads of the games really won't impact that decision.

If people aren't ready for a change after this season then it is because they simply don't care if we win or even compete. How anyone can look at the last few years as anything other than totally unacceptable blows my mind. None of you would keep your jobs if you did them as poorly as Coach Rhoads, no matter how many excuses you came up with. I like the guy, and I get that this is a tough job, but come on, you can't field teams that don't even show up.

I love our cyclones but I think the quickest way to get Rhoads out is to not have butts in the seats. As much as I would love to go to the remaining games, I will not attend another game with Rhoads as our coach. Nothing against the guy, he just can't get it done.

You go to the game to see the kids compete. Everyone is doing the best they can. The coaches, players, and administration are smart people. If you leave at halftime, during a blow out, that will have the same affect as not showing up. It also allows you to support the team and keep the energy high inside the stadium. This is important is good times and even more so in the lows (Iowa Sate lows).

Well if there is room on that bench I'm there with you. The loss hurts. Am I disappointed,yes. Am I a quitter,no. Some say the players have given up, I don't believe that. The coaches are phoning it in, not true. Bad first quarter? Yes. We didn't give up because we marched it down field and left 24 points out there. If you've given up you don't move down the field. Yes, Grant made some bad choices, two big errors, but we still played hard. He had more poise 2nd half, but did not connect or chose the wrong receiver. Yes, I will be at the last two home games,my choice. Everyone has to choose how to deal with disappointment, some boo( loud losers), other are chewers(loud complainers) and doers, find the positive and improve. I'll be at the stadium,maybe alone, but I'll be where I want to be. GO CYCLONES.

Watching UNI drill NDSU yesterday has me so looking forward to the 2015 season opener

Unfortunately here is how I see things playing out..we will beat TT, come close to WV and pull off the cfball shocker of the year and upset TCU to throw a wrench in the playoff stuff with all kinds of ESPN highlights and a classic CPR so proud speech like none other. We finish 4-7 with CPR and JP saying that if the refs hadn't screwed us this team would be bowling etc...

this is team is more talented with SR. at qb than the 2010 okie st victory. Defense not even close but it's possible. Just saying it's how I could see it playing out because we are ISU fball fans and usually what we want to happen the opposite happens and right now I think many fans would just rather we get destroyed the last 3 games and CPR is gone.

Thank you Dr. Phil. And what signs of positive improvement can the 'doers' find from another putrid losing season and coming off getting drubbed by a HORRIBLE Kansas team?

I'm not. Did you know AtlantaCyclone that this Coach and coaching staff did NOTHING after losing to Tulsa in the Liberty Bowl? Nothing. They promptly lost to UNI after 8 months of preparing and "coaching". I just looked up some salaries as I was curious....Wally Burnham $375,000 and Messingham still got his $325,000 last year. Nice. Your Defensive Coordinator expensed $9000 plus in meals and travel. His home county is listed as Hillsborough....that is not even an Iowa County(??).
Oh well, Career advice for all you smart engineers at Ames: CHANGE NOW while you are young. Go into coaching or parks and rec. Also, after browsing Iowa salaries, I would say being a clinical professor would be a nice gig at any University Hospital. Yikes, there are a lot of folks getting nice salaries. I am glad for them....I am sure the Affordable Care Act won't change the fact that good Doctors do indeed deserve a good and generous compensation package.

Well, at least we saw some adjustments at halftime! ISU should have won this game easily. The team wasn't ready to play. That is on CPR. How many of our starters from the summer are still around?

Since spring ball, we have lost six starter to season ending injuries or discipline (Coe DL Irving DL, Miller LB, Dagel OL, Bundrage WR, Harris WR) plus two starters that have missed significant time (West WR, Ferch LB). Since fall camp we redshirted Luna DL and Ayeni DL due to injury, lost Peters LB dt season ending injury, both Cousin DL, Richardson QB and Tribune DB have missed at least one game. Garcia DL and Jensen DL have also missed time due to injuries. To start the season Bibbs was not 100% as he was recovering from surgery.

Let's face it we are currently playing what was listed as the fourth string in the spring on our D line. I'm not even sure I have them all......it's a lot to think about for this dusty brain.

Not going to happen. This defense could not stop an injured butterfly and our offense will not put up 50+ on TCU. I was there for the last upset of TCU in 2012 and was planning on attending this year, but I'm not so sure anymore. This one might be beyond ugly...

All of the offensive coaches have been turned over with exception of Sturdy, and two defensive coaches (secondary and ends). That in addition to the OC. If our previous position coaches were not recruiting or evaluating the right talent (I have no idea if that is true), this groups has just begun that process. Just adding to that thought.

There might be 3 games left, but the season's over. Basketball starts on Friday and the football team has given us no reason to split our attention. Some of us might still follow from a distance, maybe even watch and post during the game, but it won't mean much.

Simply because I'm obnoxious about correcting things: there have already been 5 wins in the two seasons combined (Tulsa, KU, WV in '13, UofI, Toledo in '14).Not disagreeing with the premise, though.

Edit: I looked up a little known rule ... if you lose a game by 100 or more, the Big XII gives you -1 win to your record. So, by year end, the original statement could still be true.
