I State logo

I travel a lot for work and see the often see the cardinal & gold out and about. It is always fun to meet another Cyclone. As for the logo, non-Cyclones usually commente on Iowa State, i.e. did you go there, etc. I had one CU faculty member ask if I worked there. I have never had anyone ask me who the I-State is for, though I have had 1 or 2 ask to confirm, "Iowa State, right?". The Spinning Cy? People don't recognize it.

Over time, I come to love the new logo.

It still doesn't change the fact that the I-State logo is extremely lame =/

I like it.

Iowa State is the only one of the 3 in a BCS conference. Also neither Illinois State nor Indiana State phonetically have the long I sound in their names like in Iowa, so it does create another separation there from those two.

I always got questions about Cy. "Why is your logo a bird when you're the Cyclones?" Or worse yet, "Is that a Hawk?"

Indiana State and Illinois State? Really. The only time Indiana State is ever mentioned is when referencing Larry Bird back in the late 70s. People are just trying to get under your skin my man. The point they make is one that is not very sharp.

That is what happens when you are from Iowa, but in Illinois it is a question that comes up. I have traveled to Colorado quite a bit. In the summer used to do a week or so in Rocky Mountain National Park, and a store their stated that "Cy" (the one with navy blue) was a HUGE seller. I love the new one with the new colors.

Why that is NOT the primary logo is beyond me!

I love this logo. Its simple and to the point. Even though everyone that comments on it thinks its Illinois State but that because I live in Illinois, so thats expected.

it really doesn't matter what your logo is, if you are good, people will recognize it.

Miami uses a giant U. And their mascot is a duck. It doesn't get any more eff'd up than that.

... maybe the stanford pine trees

WRONG... I think it is a very recongnizable logo. (See previous post) And a big seller. The reason a logo becomes recognizable is based on team (FB and MBB) success, and that has been lacking lately.

A huge seller at a gift shop in a national park, you say? Well, I'm not surprised. National Parks are where all the kids go to get their sports apparel these days, right? Seriously, what constitutes a "huge seller" at a store like that? Like 7 shirts a week, maybe? Yeah, people are just rushing to America's national parks to pick up college sports merchandise.

My whole thing is how many times has Cy won the mascott challenge? Cy is recognizable for a school as small as Iowa State, why change it to something that could be mistaken by the average fan for a school like Indiana State or Idaho State.

Dude it is Estes Park.... 1,000's of people are in those stores every day.

Your statement is nothing more than ignorant.

Once again, win RECONGNIZATION! I like the CY logo with the Cardinal and Gold over the I State logo 6 days a week and twice on Sunday. IT is more RECOGNIZABLE!

Our colors are what separates it. And once it gets more national recognition, by winning, people will know what our logo is. It takes time.
If we are arguing about people getting I-state mixed up with the other ISU's, then what about OSU getting mixed up with the other OSU's.
Winning and being on national TV will solve this problem.

We need more merchandise with a state of Iowa imprint behind the I-State logo. Including on the new court.

Agree. The "Beat Iowa" shirt that has the I-State logo outlined by the state of Iowa is my personal favorite.

Hated the I-State change. Grew on me, and now I love it. Hope it sticks. Love the new color scheme too.

That's because we had that logo for so long and had some national success with that logo. If we had our current logo since the 80's, people would recognize that. Give the new logo some more time and let it get some more airtime on national tv and people will recognize it more.

I diddn't read this thread or responses but i asume you are talking about Illinois, Indiana and Idaho State. Correct.

Yes, the I state Logo/concept is stoopid.

the 'new' color scheme is our true/old colors in fact.

thank goodness we finally got rid of those fashion disasters from the Gene Smith/McCarney era.
