MLB: I hate Milton Bradley

Why do people still use RBI's as a stat they rate a player on?

Granted, they're a little misleading, but they don't exactly tell you nothing. But, to further the point, Milton Bradley has hit .236 with runners in scoring position, and .229 with them in scoring position and two out.

Wow people, I wasn't defending Bradley, even though I think he gets way too much crap from the fans. I was just pointing out how bad of a stat RBI has become.

So 1 month makes up for 3 months of crappines?

I admitted he didn't get off to a great start. Never said he did. But if you don't think he's been one of the cubs best hitters thus far in the second half you haven't been watching the team.

It was awful nice of him to start hitting when they were out of it. Some players are much better when they're on small markets or on bad teams, like Javy Vazquez.

That maybe so. I don't know if he performs well in the spotlight or not.

And Jake Fox has had a great run, no doubt. I think you could compare the numbers he's put up in the limited at bats up against pretty much every other player on the roster and he'd look better at this point.

My point is that you're all picking out one player on the team and ripping him apart. Milton Bradley is not the reason the cubs are losing. He's tried to hold up his end of the bargain in the second half and the cubs were actually still in first place in the second half, so his hitting hasn't totally come when they'd fallen off. The entire offense is just terrible. Not one person!

No doubt. It's truly been a team effort.

Not really. If you think about, RBI should really go to the guys that are on base. Nobody who drives a guy in had anything to do with how that guy got on base.

I think that the opposing team should get credit for the pitcher's ERA. I mean, it isn't like the pitcher had anything to do with scoring those runs.

Technically, we've only been in first place during the second half, unless we were up there in early April.

The trick for Milton is that he is/makes himself a lightning rod. He's the kind of guy that really needs to just play the game without making extra noise, but he's also the kind of guy that can't stop himself from making the extra noise.

He is hitting well now. I think Jake Fox would probably do better, but that might be my own version of the Hawkeye backup QB thing.

"All I'm saying is I just pray the game is nine innings, so I can be out there the least amount of time as possible and go home," he said.

This is exactly why the Cubs ****** away the season. There was either apathy or no sense of urgency. Soriano knew it didn't matter one bit if he was terrible...he would still be in the lineup the next day. Not so for Fontenot or Hoffpauir, if they have a bad few games they are riding the bench.
