I-35 / US 30 Flyover Progress

I was up in Seattle for some training many moons ago and we took a side trip to the bridge because we're nerdy engineers.
Went across it many times in my misspent youth, heading to Gig Harbor. :)

I should add - I crossed the rebuilt version...I wasn't born when the original collapsed.

4. I-29 is finished in Sioux City
5. I-80 / I-29 is finished in Council Bluffs
Throw in the new I-74 bridge in Quad-Cities because Illinois is involved and you know . . . it is Illinois so something has to be corrupt, they have no money and the union is bound to picket at some point.

Gone for two weeks. Went by the 35/30 interchange this afternoon. Pretty much nothing changed. Wonder how the SEZ Reiman Gardens project looks?

If you've seen the progress on the bridge so far, all the work is on the Iowa side, not the Illinois side.

I also think Iowa is footing the bill and Illinois will "pay them back". Nothing can go wrong with that plan.

Have they learned NOTHING???
I didn't see it in the story - please tell me they didn't hire the same contractor...
No, the new Rider Corner flyover bridge went to a different contractor. Looks like the contractor working on the flyover in Ames didn't even bid on it.

Apparent bids on the Rider Corner flyover are here and summarized below: https://www.bidx.com/ia/apparentbids?contid=77-0803-183
Code:
UNITED CONTRACTORS INC. AND SUBSIDIARIES $35,601,601.69
CRAMER AND ASSOC., INC. $35,979,877.60
JENSEN CONSTRUCTION CO. $37,706,424.74

If anyone is interested, you can get the bridge plans here:
https://iowadot.gov/contracts/biddocuments/july_2018_letting/17JUL009.zip

Plans are located here within the zip file: ...\Plan\77-0803-183\77-0803-183_C.pdf
