Being largely irrelevant for almost 25 years, especially compared to when they were actually good, should keep a lot of those folks quiet.

Sharing this from another thread, because I thought it was very pertinent here...

This tweet was from after their loss to Illinois, so the loss to Indiana would add one more to that to make it 26.

Additionally, there's this tweet from after the Illinois game making him 2-21 after the Indiana loss, which I admit is a fact I found very surprising:

Living in SW Iowa, we hear all the time that they are relevant/a blue blood/playoff worthy. They will never be back
I grew up in the western third of the state and bug eater fans are nothing compared to how the used to be. I'm not saying they still aren't arrogant but they have definitely been humbled over the last 20 years.

Omaha tv was brutal.

I do believe that they showcase Iowa state highlights a lot more now

They certainly have the money.
Do they though? Really?

I know they have a metric **** ton of money, I'm not doubting that, but so do most of the big boys. I don't think they have enough of a financial advantage to build a powerhouse these days.

Unless they grew up Husker fans, I don't think high school kids are exactly jacked up about going to Lincoln.

There were a lot of people in the local media talking about how great this hire was for Nebraska. Why?

Goes to show how good we have it with Campbell.
