What makes you think this team will fix things situationally?

You can almost mark it down that we're going to lose at least 3 games every year situationally. Not sure why that will change this year?

And are we really less talented? We're definitely younger and less experienced probably..... but I think we just might be as talented or more.
I just think last years team had a lot of pressure on it. Lead to trying to do a little too much situationally and overthinking a lot of situations.

I think this years team has more of a chip on that it’s shoulder. No pressure on them since expectations aren’t super high.

There's a difference between being ready and acting ready and ISU was the latter last season.

At the end of the 2020 season (granted they were in better shape on the Oline and getting teams with Covid issues helped margin of victory) ISU played like a team that was ready.

Last season was a hard lesson that you can't just snap your fingers and replicate whatever mode you were in when things were going well.

I know fall camp has just started, but would love to know what some of y’all have been hearing in terms of players to watch for, potential breakout players, younger guy who may step up for this years squad (i.e. not public knowledge lol) etc… Given the nature of this team and how open some positions are, there is tons to talk about! So let’s do it.

I'd say 7-8 . Yes, we are really young (but talented) or it would appear.

Not to mention the schedule is kinda friendly.

Baylor, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Kansas State all at home. A bye week between Texas and Oklahoma. Not that any will be easy, don't get me wrong but if we go 3-2 at home at worst, maybe 2-2 on the road and go 2-1 in the non-conference or better, there's 7 wins.

Is that a tad ambitious? probably. I think 6-6 is very possible or even 5-7. But I have faith in the staff and the player development to where going 7-5 is not insane to me. There is a path forward to get there.

I predict that the QB position will not hold us back at all. Maybe the OL, but not QB. OL will still be the weakest unit on the team IMO.... outside of Special Teams of course.
The program is getting to the point where “weakest unit” is purely relative term.

7-6 but special teams have a chance to surprise in a positive way.

I'm just not convinced after replacing our best RB, top 2 TE's, ever and one of our top QB's. I'm hoping for 6 but secretly hoping for more!
ISU lost a lot of guys, but they also lost a couple games last year they had no business losing with those guys that have departed. A decent OL and more depth would erase a lot of the problems that ISU had in games last year. No guarantee that the OL will be better, but it feels like this might be the year where they are good..

What are the expectations?
That we will kick your ass! Maybe this year? I guess we'll find out in a few weeks.
Aren't you a Hawk fan?
A reasonable one. Spouse is an ISU grad so we do go to some events. Plan to go to Baylor game. Once temps get below 50 or so, she thinks that's too cold, lol.
Your either in or out dude….nothing in between.
So you don't allow in casual fans? Don't tell Jamie on me.
Wouldn't think about telling our AD on you. He doesn't frequent this board. Why do you? Honest question. Most fans will fan on their own board.

I get it. The Iowa board(s) suck?

Here are some younger guys who aren't getting talked about that I am interested in for this season:

Offense -
WR Daniel Jackson
WR Greg Gaines
WR Jason Essex
RB Cartevious Norton

Defnse -
DL Domonique Orange
DL Ikenna Ezeogu
DB Trevon Howard

Would love to hear any thoughts y'all have or if you have heard anything about these guys or others in the program!

I'm going with 8. Likely will end up with 7.
If ISU is ever going to beat the hoks.... STOP playing their game. BE AGGRESSIVE on offense.

Dude, we get it. Posting this in one thread was enough.

This board doesn't like to dive into the specifics much.
