How dangerous is UCF?

What I hate most about this game:
UCF still believes they've got a chance of getting to the dance, and they know a win over a top 10 ten team is about their only way of getting there. Their crowd will be nuts and their players will play incredibly hard.

What I like most about this game:
This is the 1st time UCF has played us and, as other Big 12 teams have shown, there's no way to simulate our defense in practice, so I'm hoping we get out to our usual big lead and then hold on the rest of the way.

Just looking at UCF’s box scores in wins against better teams, they usually get to the free throw line a reasonable amount and shot really well there in those wins. They aren’t a very efficient offensive team so any easy points they can get helps them a lot. Keeping them off the line (which we are usually pretty good at) and not turning it over that gives them transition opportunities will make it pretty tough for them to score enough points to beat us unless we have a terrible offensive night.

UFC is pretty dangerous, I saw a guy break his shin on another guy's shin, a former champ.

Also UCF fans told me they love being called "Central", or "Central Flo". We should all call them "Central" as much as possible.
I'm sure they would love C-Flo.

If they don't want to be directional they should change their name to University of Florida - Orlando (yes, UFO).

DraftKings says we're a 3.5 point favorite. Hope they're right.

I'm worried, like I am for every game, but you can't keep Lipsey and Mommy down for long. My prediction: They break out of their mini-slumps in a major way, and the Cyclones win by double digits. And I'm a well-known pessimist.

I don't worry so much about Tamin's and Milan's slumps. I think their scoring droughts are more about other teams making both of them a point of emphasis in their defensive game plan.

I've heard others say that Milan should no longer be starting, which I disagree with. What these folks don't realize (or appreciate) is that even when Milan isn't scoring, he's stretching the defense which is allowing Tamin and Gilbert to get into the lane at will.

As far as driving the lane:
- I'm fine with Pav driving the lane. It's weird, but sometimes his handle it tighter in the lane than when he's got space. He's just gotta be smart about when the situation is favoring the blocker and back it out or dish it off.

This is how I see Pav driving into the lane-

He also stays on his feet and doesn't die.

Anyone who thinks Mom shouldn't be starting is a moron.

This one worried me weeks ago. Given the close calls of the last few games, emergence of Watson and Pavs, feel like this is a get right game and well balanced output from our guys.

Don’t feel like they’ll be sleepwalking.

Yeah big game Saturday agains C Flo.

You know you've arrived if you pick up a win @Central

UFO would be cool since they already have the space thing...but they insist on Central Flow.

If Tamin & (especially) Milan break out of their shooting/scoring slumps right about now, for the last few weeks of the season... watch out for the Clones kids.

I'll be very happy with a win, and honestly, not disappointed with a (non-clunker) loss. That's a long trip, a new place, and UCF is good and also awkwardly (this season) the "least Big 12" of the new teams. So if ISU has both the mental and physical flexibility to beat a tough and asymmetrical UCF team on their home court, that will be a great bonus prep game for the tournament(s).

But a close road loss in this gauntlet against a very athletic, disciplined (on defense) team? I won't be concerned. I will be concerned if they lose by a lot, however, because that may mean there's wear and tear under the hood that is going to be exploited in the tourneys.

Getting the double bye for the Big 12 tournament would be huge. These boys need to rest some.
