I fished Leech Lake in early 90's and had forgotten how large it was until I just googled it.
I am working today and half day tomorrow; then will be at Table Rock Lake until Sunday. Fourth of July equals the beginning of boating season for my family.
I live in Kansas City and have been going to TRL for about 20 years. Wife's family started going in early 90's. We love it. It is getting to be more crowded/busy but nothing like LoO. A common analogy between LoO and TRL is; LoO is great when you are young or want to party; TRL is where you take your family.Do you like Table Rock Lake?
We're planning to move to MO after we sell our house. Our realtor said Truman is great for fishing, LoO has everything but can be overcrowded, Pomme de Terre, Stockton and Table Rock are others he mentioned for boating/fishing. We've been to LoO a few times.
Thanks for the info! Sounds like TRL is more of what we'd like.I live in Kansas City and have been going to TRL for about 20 years. Wife's family started going in early 90's. We love it. My wife is a lake snob and will not go anywhere else due to how clean the water is at TRL. I'm 6'3" and can see my toes after July (assuming there hasn't been a rain that resulted in debris in the lake)
Here is a pic of a cove off the main channel. This smoothness is not uncommon and this is a pretty consistent view of what the shore looks like. B/C it's an ACE lake, there are restrictions on how close a building can be to shore. ACE have also limited the number of new docks in recent years. TRL will never be as commercialized as LoO because of these restrictions. Not uncommon for the water temp to be 85+ in Aug./Sep.Thanks for the info! Sounds like TRL is more of what we'd like.
And very clear water. Great trout fishing on the river coming out of it as well. Here is a pic of a cove off the main channel. I saw those trout last year but never caught one, really frustrating. We also kayaked the Taneycomo and that was the best part of the trip. And very clear water. Great trout fishing on the river coming out of it as well.
All of this lake talk has just reinforced that I need to get the family back to a cabin on a lake for at least a long weekend again next year and make it an annual thing. We had an amazing time and made some great memories.
Tell us more about this nightly poke game.We really enjoy the annual family week at the lake. No pressures for who can attend and what we do during the week, though we have some annual traditions: fish fry one night, pizza & ice cream at the local place in town, burgers at the resort, game night (though usually there ends up being a nightly poke game) and also one night of watching The Great Outdoors.
LOL. Guess I better go back and fix that.Tell us more about this nightly poke game.
"But thanks for asking/trying/playing along."Told the wife, “Are a scale of 1 to America, how free are you Friday night?” She rolled her eyes and said “I’m busy”.
