If there weren't good players leaving every year because of McDermott there would have been more talented rosters.
I don't know if Otz was brought back to be HC or as a continuity assistant but what is VERY clear is he was not brought back to be Hoibergs asst coach at ISU this next season.
Chicago firing Thibs might actually create an opening in Phoenix. Would be ironic if Thibs went to Suns after Bulls tried to block him from other jobs.
I can't see the Cavs firing Vladimir Putin...errrr...I mean Blatt. Not every team is as idiotic as Chicago.
im guessing there is a lot going on behind the scenes and Pollard knows more than he's leading us to believe. Maybe not, but I have a hard time believing he has no idea of Hoibergs intentions.
as far as Hoiberg....I'm honestly tired of this. I'm not mad, not flaming, just tired of this. If the NBA is your goal, then go. I'm not really interested in the program being held hostage every off season while he looks for the best NBA fit. Say he comes back to Iowa state next year...no doubt we will have a great year, but next summer we will go thru this all again. I don't blame him for wanting to go.
The Romero quote is awfully interesting now though isn't it.

That's true...still though. We brought in guys on scholarship that couldn't beat out the likes of Petersen and Haluska in year 3. Yikes!
And the squad that Fred inherited (minus Dendy and Hamilton) finished dead last Fred's first year despite a monster year out of Jake Anderson, who was not a McDermott guy.
He is the trendy name by fans right now, but not as popular by insiders and donors that have dealt with him over the years. He really rubs people the wrong way at times so he may have less support than one would assume.
He would be a great candidate, but he has some baggage like any candidate.
I don't know who you've been reading but I've certainly never alluded to that. Not even in the slightest. We knew this would be a process with the Bulls/Thibs situation. This was never going to be a quick deal.
Not you, but we do seem to have the most leaky athletic department in the country according to about half a dozen posters here.
I know some love the Pollard go out get a quick hire and do it myself method. The problem is it has worked for him once in 4 major hires. Maybe he should take some time and get some other input before making his decision this time. At times it is like he is more worried about the media finding out who he is after that finding the right coach.
For the record, I agree with you. Just read that in the Sun-Times. Had that conversation. Thought it was an interesting side note to think about.
