Iowa should follow suit and do the exact same thing, let the private schools decide, to either move up a class higher than their BEDS count or play in the own championship. I would guess most would choose to move up a class, but let them decide. Nothing you can do about the largest class, but it would help the other classes immediately.![]()
AHSAA announces public, private school football split: Here’s what’s happening next year
The AHSAA's Central Board of Control voted today to separate public and private schools in athletics for the first time in the Association's 104-year history.www.al.com
Very few of the smaller private schools would move up a class. Very few of any size for that matter.…..I would guess most would choose to move up a class, but let them decide. Nothing you can do about the largest class, but it would help the other classes immediately.
Soon, imo, private schools will dominate all classes. They should be required to compet 1-2 classes above their enrollment or have separate Associations. A. Parochial/private school of 300 does not have the 20-30% of the student population that is lower end academically and behavioral. They have almost no special education and limited free and reduced lunches. That gives them a huge advantage.Iowa should follow suit and do the exact same thing, let the private schools decide, to either move up a class higher than their BEDS count or play in the own championship. Looking through girls basketball scores from yesterday and saw that Roosevelt beat DSM North 70-3. This is North's second game this year where they have only scored 3 pts (lost 43-3 to Mason City).

2-3 years ago in the free and reduced lunch. I don’t believe special ed is factored in.When did the special ed, and free and reduced lunch’s change?
Private schools are already dominating in almost every sport. They send more teams to the playoffs each year than over what their numbers suggest they should. Getting to pick and choose your students gives them a huge advantage over public schools, and then you add in that since the parent is spending at least some money to send their kids to a private school, they are more likely to be involved in their education. Playing on travel teams and going to camps cost money, and parents that are involved in the education have the funds to do those things for their kids, while many in the public schools do not or choose not too.Soon, imo, private schools will dominate all classes. The parochial school of 300vhas a pool of 200-250 students to draw from. The public school has maybe 150, effectively.
Huge advantage when you can select who you allow to enroll.
And he has a younger one in middle school as wellFrom what I understand, yes.
Johnston girls basketball is currently on a 66 game win streak.

Yeah their coach is recruiting the top girls in the city. They are basically like the dowling of women’s basketball
You think public schools don’t recruit? Did you fall and hit your head?
That is a sad situation. Caleb Bacon graduated five years ago and now they may not field a team is crazy. Andy Stensrud’s son would have been their qb.Rumor is Lake Mills has decided to not field a football team next year. Sad situation. Only dressed Junior and Seniors when I was there and now they can’t even get enough in 4 grades.
