Hello there, my State friends.

THIS EXACTLY! In the first match-up this season after he hit 2 or 3 treys, I yelled in a room full of clones watching the game, "How hasn't that guy graduated yet!!?!? How do they have another one!" I was none to happy.

It seems there have been several players over the years who fit that whole "this guy must be on his 7th year of eligibility" role. I usually associate it with players I dislike. Jason Sutherland from Mizzou ring a bell? Boddicker from UT is another. Keiton played and started most of his four year career...yeah, he was here a long time! That kid's motor never stopped. He's now our assistant strength and conditioning coach.

I think Forte is going to be a solid player. He's been in a shooting slump the last several games, but has a knack for getting timely steals and is ice at the free throw line. He's a little taller than Page and more athletic. What he doesn't have is Page's ability to score going to the basket. I have no idea how Page would get a layup off when guarded by bigger and more athletic players (pretty much anyone else on the court), but he did. Forte has had so many layups rejected I wince when he drives in.

In this very small sampling of OSU fans, I have to say I am impressed and it solidifies that I like you guys. Cool story about the talking to the coaches. I was born in 88, so didnt ever get to see the Orr days, but all signs point to the character that he was.

I was a student at OSU in the late 80s to early 90s. We always went a couple hours early to GIA for games. One season I made it a goal to talk to all of the Big 8 coaches when they were out for shootaround. I talked to all but Norm (blew me off) and Tubbs (never saw him until game time). The best conversation I had, by far, was with Johnny Orr. We chatted about basketball for 5-10 minutes. Good stuff.

Great story. The times I have had an opportunity to interact with Okie State fans it has always been a positive experience. Very knowledgeable fans not only in regard to their own teams but about the other teams and schools in the conference as well. I sat next to a group of 4 Okie State fans at the 2005 football game in Ames (game was so boring) and had quite a lengthy chat about ISU and OSU sports. Good people.

Page was the type of player fans dislike but respected. The kid looked so outclassed on the court in size, athletic ability, etc... but that kid would drop daggers on ISU time and time again.

Funny you mention Sutherland from Mizzou. He was the type of player fans hated because he was a little d-bag that played dirty. Every time we played Mizzou back in the day I always had my fingers crossed that one of our players elbows would somehow land right in his face. Sadly it never happened. I'll never forget the Conference Tourney down in Kansas City where that little punk nearly started a brawl at the end of one of our games right at the buzzer. When that kid was involved trouble was never far away. He would without a doubt win my vote as the most hated player in Conference history.

And we have a knack for getting people out of their shooting slumps this year. Every game it seems another gaurd is shooting 80% and is going for a career high against us this year.

Ha! Bring on the magic shooting slump busting juju!

My OSU friends and I always joke during football season; "OSU defense - we'll make a Heisman contender out of your QB."

Agree wholeheartedly with everything said in this thread so far. The Poke fans are a bunch of cool cats. They remind me of us in a lot of ways. My only reason to hate them is that we haven't won at GIA since I was 4 years old, which is frustrating. All in all, classy fanbase and they have had some good/fun teams.

That being said, worst of luck tonight. Go Cyclones!!!

This is what sports message boards should be. Enjoyed reading this thread. Looking forward to a great game tonight. Unfortunately it's on ESPNU and my Dish only carries the SD signal at my level. So even if it's a great game for us it's still going to be painful to watch.

Meh, Okie State is better because Paige doesn't play anymore.

Somehow someone got the idea that a smurf cranking up 30 foot threes was cute.
