Grilled Cheese Sandwich

What's the proper way to serve a grilled cheese sandwich?

Woah, woah, woah. I love ketchup & especially ranch as much as the next guy, but tomato soup is the only acceptable thing to dip grilled cheese into.

I have been around enough kids to know some of them will dip anything in ketchup and/or ranch. Great nephew dips his pacifier in ranch. But yes, I am of the tomato soup or nothing persuasion.

I always make a double decker grilled cheese for myself, and it's awesome. Make a normal grilled cheese with two slices of cheese, then when it's done add two more slices of cheese with one extra piece of buttered bread. Cut diagonally into triangles naturally.

Another important question is do you butter the bread itself or melt the butter in the pan for each side?

I melt the butter in the pan so that the butter soaks into every little bit of the bread and especially the edges.

Butter the bread and melt butter in the pan.

With grape jelly on top. Sounds weird to most people, but if you try it, you will always make them this way.

My wife butters and toasts each piece separately (and puts a piece of cheese on both) instead of flipping.
She then puts both pieces together and cuts diagonally.

I also make a pepperoni grilled cheese with mozzarella and then we dip in pizza sauce.

My sister was fixing our nephew lunch while his mother was out and the sandwich wasn't cut correctly. We had no idea why the waterworks were turned on when she brought him a sandwich. He was traumatized because the sandwich was not cut into "Sticks and Triangles"

WTF? That is the weirdest way to cut up a sandwich I've ever heard of.
