Governor shuts down bars in 6 Iowa Counties

Not sure why us over here in Linn County got included on that list of 6 counties. Knock on wood, but we've been fairly stable in our cases over here right now and are on the bottom half of counties on a cases per 100,000 people, especially as compared to those other counties on the list. Maybe its just because we have multiple colleges in town.

For those who haven't discovered this NY Times Covid-10 portal, I've found it to be the best at tracking numbers everywhere whether that be by country, state, or county. Its simple and easy.

Because the kiddies would drive right up 380 from IC to party in the bars in CR.

It’s a shame that the actions at ~25 bars (Welch Ave/Court Ave/Iowa City bars) can ruin it for the small dive-bar/watering hole bars in towns like Linden or Slater, which haven’t produced any issues.

They'd be like locusts though. They move from a closed bar to the next open bar.

Feel awful for some of the local bar owners I know in the metro; they are struggling.

This is why we still need support from the federal level, and it is absolutely criminal that not more has been done since the spring. We need to reimburse the businesses that we have closed down for society's benefit, and take care of their employees.

Exile is staying open because they are considered a brewbub/restaurant. That place is going to be loaded over the next month. Any word on el bait shop?

I grew up in Linden is there still a bar in town?!

Well, there goes our plan of pregaming at the Tip Top 9/12 if they don't let fans in JTS.

Waukee/WDSM/Clive being in both Dallas and Polk

From KCCI:

According to the governor, Iowans ages 19-24 made up nearly a quarter of new cases last week, but the data from the Iowa Department of Public Health suggests this is not a new trend.

Residents in Dallas county are mostly suburban families that don’t fit the governors criteria that this decision was based on.

Dallas is also the only county on the list that Reynolds won the last election fwiw

Pretty sure El Bait Shop is considered a restaurant. I’ve heard the classification depends on the percentage of sales being food, which I think is over 50%.
