Good article from Hines

Lol, where did I say I want him to berate or abuse players? Fran rarely does it anyways, its just when he does he makes a complete fool of himself so everyone remembers it. I just want him to hold players accountable when they play poorly.

Whats wrong with pulling a guy aside, explaining where he went wrong, and telling them they're benched until they can do what is asked of them? The article says hes getting on their ass about not rebounding in practice. We continually get abused on the boards in games, and rebounding is all about effort not size. Why not pull guys and tell them if they cant block out or give some effort after loose balls that you will play somebody that can?

Most of the time he just stands there with his arms crossed when things are going south.
Didn't you say you were basically staying away from criticizing Prohm for this year?

You're wrong. Nixon had three full years of putrid shooting to allow for a conclusion. Shayok had one bad shooting season at Virginia that you're choosing to cherry pick. The prior two seasons he was 38 and 43.6% three-point shooter, combining to go 36-89.

Nixon was brought to Ames to strengthen Chicagoland connections and because we had open scholarships to fill and had whiffed on better transfers.

Don't claim to know things you know nothing about.
Maybe it is just me, but I wouldn't call years of .378, .314 and .330 as putrid shooting. The .314 is nothing to write home about but we would take a guy alongside Haliburton shooting .378 or even .330 on this team in a heartbeat. .378 yields the same number of points as shooting .567 from 2.

There is literally a line in the article that he says “If you’re not getting it done defensively, you’ve got to come sit.”

Great insight to the “play Lewis more” desire around here. THIS team has to be defense first, can’t out score teams as your primary defense. That was gone when THT and LW left early

I'd say Lewis has gotten more minutes the last two games with that quote in mind. People were getting worked, so he finally got his shot. Worked his butt off and hit some shots. I hope he has a quicker trigger on pulling guys on D who aren't working, but he's always been a bit slow on his draw in those decisions.

People say it all the time, and it gets annoying as a player, but defense is almost solely about effort, and we've seen what most of these guys CAN do when they are a cohesive defensive unit, and taking pride in stopping their man. However it has been far too streaky.

Well, for TL, I hope that is the case. He’s long and has some hop, perfect for passing lanes and 3 spot rebounding. Just need more effort and mental sharpness at that end of the floor, and that goes for everyone for that matter.

His defense isn't as bad as having 2 guards coming off of the bench that didn't score in December until the final minute of a blowout. I'm not giving up on those guys, but they definitely didn't take advantage of their opportunity to bury Lewis on the depth chart.

Prohm has even said that bad offense can lead to bad defense. Lewis has shown potential to pick the offense up.
