Go Cyclone Radio

Five dollars Now ...Twenty dollars later ....Enjoy being screwed by Disney/ESPN.....
If it goes up to $20 I'll cancel. In fact, I'll most likely cancel after the college basketball season has concluded. In the end, I'll have spent $10 or $15 to be able to for sure watch a handful of Iowa State games, other interesting games that are on ESPN +, and have access to the full library of 30 for 30 for a few months in the winter. I spent double that amount on dinner and two beers last night after work.

I opted for the $50 annual fee. I use my Roku to access it and it works well. I will watch several other Big XII games as well. I will spend many times that amount to attend the OU game in Hilton on Saturday with my family. Being in Winter and not living in close proximity make season tickets for basketball impossible for me so I will watch however I can.

It is the principle of the thing! I have my radio tuned to 100.3 to listen to the Cyclones while I watch Alabama play Miss. State on the SEC Network on my Direct TV package. It's not the $5, it's the GD millennials and their streaming that annoys the hell out of me. ISU vs. KU being on a streaming app instead of being shown from coast to coast on ESPN, ESPN 2 or ESPN U is a JOKE and lessens exposure. Let's Go State!

Not having our game on "coast to coast" ESPN may have been merciful!

I went to the game so ESPN+ was a moot point for last night. However, I've had it for a while just so I can watch what I want (MVC games, 30 for 30's, etc.). It is not just changing the way we pay to watch Cyclone games. It is about delivery of much more product too.

Again, it's not about paying to watch a Cyclones game. It's about having to pay ESPN multiple times.

If you're buying literally any streaming service or cable service that carries ESPN, you're paying MOSTLY for ESPN. That's how much they charge cable companies. Do you have any idea what percentage of the cost of these things is literally just ESPN?

And now they are charging extra for certain games on top of that.

I really don't care what circumstances brought this to be, either. Literally could not possibly not care less, because it's not my problem.

"but it's just $5, boomer!"

If you think ESPN+ will stay at $5 while only getting better, then you're pretty naive.

"but, but, $5, boomer! Skip 6 McDoubles! LOL"

Shut up.

People always say "vote with your wallet". Well, I'm voting with my wallet. You go on paying whatever you want to the mothership. Heck, I'd really appreciate it if you send them some donations while you're at it to kickstart a $5 a month Big12 streaming subscription that carries all our games in 4K and they run fiber to my house.

Doesn't Reddit end up banning all these online streaming subreddits? I think they pushed out CFB streams.
They do, but they're slow at getting to it. I think NBA streams got shut down at the end of the season last year and have not had any trouble finding a game I want this season.

Right on Brother ...I also voted with my wallet...I pay way too much money already to the greedy disney/espn monopoly ...espn+ can go suck a big lollipop.....

I can’t stand not seeing a game. Have fun with the radio.

What's totally disturbing to me is I live about 4 miles out of Ames and can hardly pick up 1430 or 1460 for the women's games. Men are on 105.1 and the bus, but this is crazy for the women's games. Of course, no problem on getting the hawkeye women on 1040.

According to the post above it's about $6/month for ESPN on the ol' cable.

Whew. Deal breaker. ISU should really return some of their money so we pay less than 6 goddam Dollars for ESPN.

Women's coverage is terrible it won't help you but 107.3 out of Forest City(?) sometimes cover them but ISU sports will also get preempted for the local wrestling tourney. And that is fine they are a small home town radio station.

Daylight games on 1430 and 1460 are quite a bit better I've heard them in northern Iowa, but night games sometimes the post game drops out before you've driven out of Ames after watching the game in Hilton.

I paid good money for some used gear with the Orr-nado on it. Tisk tisk by the AD for not having that logo on redesigned gear.
JP has terrible taste in design. That stupid bugle should be enough proof. It's nearly impossible to find cutting edge gear for ISU. It's always the same crap and I don't care for the I State as a stand alone design feature. Its a much better water mark.

I am always surprised at how many here don’t donate to Cyclone Club, Gridiron Club, buy tickets, CyclonesTV, etc.. Now streaming is here and it is yet another chance to support ISU, but...

We as fans have an opportunity to impact how valuable ISU is in this medium going into the future. Contribute more to our success and @&#$* less.

WARNING!
OLD MAN DIATRIBE MANIFESTO RANT APPROACHING

Yeah I am in NCC and have season tix to FB an MBB; have had for 10 years running and a few years on and off before that. I have driven back and forth from CR more times than I can count. Subscribe to cyclones.tv too. Don't tell me I don't care enough. You can shove that where the sun don't shine, frankly.

The issue isn't the $5.

The issue is it is a PITA to subscribe to all these different services. In a hectic world of too many things to keep track of already, its just one more little gd thing, that you will use like twice a year, and forget your password 5 minutes before the game so you miss the first 10 minutes of the game, and give them your CC info, which hopefully won't get hacked, hopefully won't get changed so you get cancelled next month, and receive thrice-daily spam emails about until long after you die. It.Just.Wears.My.Ass.Out. If I could pay the $5 in cash with no password or login and just use it once and have it go away, that would be far preferential.

The whole world couldn't wait until cable was dead so we could just subscribe to the 3 channels we actually watch. Now we have what we wanted, and it's aggravating as sin due to the hassle.
Amazon Prime, Youtube TV, ESPN, ESPN again, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Sling, CBS All Access, HBO, FoxSports, etc etc etc
Someone ought to create an aggregator service to bundle all these for like $50 a month or so!

OK, I'm not really angry as it probably sounds, but just trying to sum up the causes of aggravation for the younger crowd who views having 100 different accounts on your phone as standard practice. It is a generational thing, I think. I'm 47 and moderately tech savvy. I can only imagine how annoying this is to someone who first experienced computers in their 30s.

I am a Cyclone Club Member and a Football and Men's Basketball Season Ticket holder. Screw streaming. It's not about me being able to see the game or not. As a matter of fact, I am enjoying the radio broadcast (I stayed home tonight). It's about not having easy access to see Iowa State on ESPN / ESPN2 / ESPNU from coast to coast if I am visiting my sister in California or my brother in Florida or on a business trip anywhere else. This streaming crap is actually short sighted for a short sighted millennial audience. Ironically, it's a good thing that ISU is not on from coast to coast tonight! At least, the embarrassment will be contained to the ESPN app and between the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers.
Short sighted Millennials? The people who even care to watch network television will all be gone in 20 years. Who's short sighted now?
