I would like to give my opinion regarding the leadership at Iowa State. It is my belief that it has never been better. What these two accomplished the past week under what had to be extremely cloudy and totally intimidating conditions was unbelieveable.

Not only did the Big 12 stay together (with the exception of the weaker teams), our athetic department negotiated (along with others) higher revenues for Iowa State into the forseeable future.

During that press conference, it became clear that President Geoffroy was the senior leader of the group of schools possiblly left dangling, and they stayed the course. When certain ideas and plans were introduced, President Geoffroy deferred to AD Pollard and trusted his judgement. That is one strong leadership team with one objective in mind......KEEP IOWA STATE WHOLE.

Well done you two. You deserve alot of credit. The naysayers on here would have folded long before any worthwhile agreement had been reached.

Agreed. Pollard is a great AD, and it is awesome to have a university president that cares so much about athletics.

I have absolutely nothing to add. Very well said. We have excellent leaders and people at the helm at ISU!

This is what I like the most about them. They seem to put a lot of heart and passion into their jobs and people don't realize that a lot of universities have a bunch of stiffs that could care less about the fans etc. I am glad they are around and really the only reason Pollard gets crap is because he hired two of the hottest coaches at the time that flamed out. We move on.
Good job outta them.

Agreed, I still think back to the Jischke/VanDeValde days in disappointment. Anybody else at the game where Jischke was pointing at the cops to arrest people on the field. That irked me, let people celebrate a big victory!

I couldn't agree more. I have no idea what role each of them played in the whole thing, but I felt 500% better with those two in charge.

One of the things that makes me very happy is when I go to a basketball game in December and there is GG and his wife cheering on the Cyclones. It seems like there are few university presidents that would do that.

I hope that both JP and GG are at Iowa State for a very, very long time. One of the scary things about possibly moving down to a lower conference was the fact that we would probably lose Jamie.

Thank goodness we have GG and JP at the helm thru these challenging times. I have supported both and have agreed with 90% of what JP has done under some tough situations. We must learn from this and not sit back. I say we spent all of Nebby & CU money as a down payment on the south endzone ASAP so when they travel to Jack Trice they can witness the construction of a new era.

Agreed 100%. As important as coaches are, I'd like to see ISU spend a little more money (peanuts in the big picture) to wrap up Pollard long term. He's earned more than he makes or gets credit for... would like ISU to pay him as good or better than any AD in college. He's got a much harder job then top tier schools and does a great job.

I would love to do that..and Geoffroy too. I highly highly doubt we have that kind of money though.

thank god that jis****and vandewalde are by-gones-what a worthless twosome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Students; Geoffrey constantly roams around in the student sections at games. this is very rare (at least I would intelligently assume) for College presidents. Find a way to shake his hand, talk with him, high 5, w/e. This guy is A+ Grade as is Pollard. Glad we have them.
