Anyone know a good place to stay there? I want to suprise the wife with a mini romantic weekend away. Preferably a place with a hot tub.
TIA

Vinny Vinucchi's has some awesome Italian food. Been awhile since I've been there, but I used to take my ex there.
I wouldn't recommend staying at Vinny's the floors are pretty hard.
In general I'd recommend driving right through and staying somewhere easier on your pocket book.

So where do you go for leisure?Galena is better for older folks romantic weekends. Holding hands, peck on the cheek, etc. Most of the "romantic" places are B&B's, not especially private for getting busy, if you catch my drift. If you're 60, good place to go. If not, you should look elsewhere.
I have spent a lot of time there, have a friend that has a house on the south course at ER.
If you want romantic, stay in Galena at a BB, or use VRBO like someone earlier said. I would only stay at ER if I was planning golf.
IMO, VV is ok for lunch, but not even close to the best place to eat. It depends on what you are in the mood for, but there are a lot of eating options. Backstreet is always really good, and there is a place on main that I can't remember the name of. Corner spot on east side, looks like a dump from the outside, but phenomenal food (Maybe Log Cabin Cafe?). Green St, and General's. Perry Street is supposed to be very good. We have eaten there twice, ok, but not as good as some others. Fried Green Tomatoes used to be really good when it was out in the country. I think it is just ok now. Great food there, so you can't really go wrong.
A lot of the restaurants are run by families out of Chicago.
