Really nice pick-up here with Gabe. Have watched him up here with the Gophers, and he was an excellent shooter his freshman year. Not sure why he was a bit off these last couple years, but he did battle injuries. His coaching (little Richard) wasn’t any better than ISU’s - maybe that contributed.

Very hard worker and character guy too. His stroke still looks sweet, so I expect he can dial it back in - would consider him an overall upgrade over JCL. Plus, another Twin Cities kid as well.

First people don’t like the Denver guy averaging 9pts in the Summit, we get a guy that was an all B1G level defender, 9+ ppg over 3 years, team captain, and he doesn’t move the needle? This is could be shayok level leadership and defense we could be getting with some new coaching...
Can I get some clarification on this? Is he an all big 10 all world level defender or was he the second worst defender in his team like someone else suggested.

Well.... we didn't conduct a true "coaching search", and hired a guy nobody else would have hired because he was good friends with our AD.... so there's a LOT of pressure on TJ to be good right out of the box I'm afraid. JP created that pressure, not us.

I want TJ to succeed big time.... I'm rooting for him like crazy.... but he does have a ton of pressure on him due to the circumstances of his hire.

So last year stats / analytics show he was one of the worst on the team. Two years ago and the year prior, that wasn’t the case. Whatever happened to him last year caused his entire game to dip.

It’s just funny because someone Mentioned he was good at defense on page 1 and now people are acting like he’s the second coming of Dennis Rodman.

To be fair to us, seeing any sort of defense played is going to make us overly excited haha. But I get what you mean. He has been talked about as a solid defender by others that aren’t Iowa State fans, so that makes me think he’s at least decent.

I don’t know if I’d put “don’t agree with the hire and some of the moves, but hoping for the best next season” and “you’re not allowed to question a single move TJ makes because he’s the head coach and you’re not a true cyclone if you do” on the same level of playing field.

FWIW, I actually like this pick up. Probably the first roster change he’s made that I agree with.
I can understand Jones to a point. But honestly what's not to like about Kunc?
