Steve didn't HAVE to do anything. He FAILED to recruit complimentary players his entire tenure at Iowa State. The so called "roster imbalance" could have been rectified if Steve could have recruited the players to do it. It was like he had no relationships built with players or high school coaches before he came to Iowa State.

When you say recruit complimentary players IMO his inability to hit on the transfer market was the issue, not the high school kids. We were leaning on young underdeveloped layers for several years. Not every kid is ready to come in and contribute, there has to be some balance in the roster. IMO that is where the transfer market is incredibly valuable and Prohm wasn't able to capitalize there.

He also lost generational talent earlier than expected. His recruiting wasn't perfect but it wasn't bad.

The games are like taking a test in college. Recruiting is like the studying you do in class and at home.

If you don't study, you suck on the test.

If you don't recruit well, you suck in the games.

While he got some great players, recruiting a few really good players doesn't matter. McD had multiple NBA players on his roster. Nobody has ever said he was a great recruiter.

Anyway, he's gone and hopefully we have more success on the recruiting trail and in games.

Study for tests?? Show up to class, stay awake and you have a B right there. Studying cuts into drinking time. Bs are fine.

Very possible. I just find it odd seeing people say “he’s only been to ONE final four!” When we just hired a dude that’s never won a game in the tourney.
You are clearly intentionally missing the point that they were correcting the poster that said Moser has been to two final fours in three years, not using it as a diss on Moser.

They’re clearly intentionally missing the point that the number doesn’t matter, the point was he’s a coach that has recently taken a team to the final four.

I think the post you replied to was someone just correcting another because going to two final fours in three years is quite different than one. And in that final four they won off a last second shot, nice win over Tennessee, then got to face a 7 and 9 seed to get to the final four

About adding another guard...
Not sure Buggs wants to be a backup pg. That being said, ISU is the one team he might be ok with playing 10-15 minutes.
Hunter
Kalscheur
Hinson
Transfer (yet to be named)
Foster

First off the bench
Kunc
Grill
Conduit
Jones

If we can get those two forwards we are supposedly looking at (Fletcher, and Enaruna) that would be a no-brainer. If not not we should pick up another PG/CG, and another F (one of above would be fantastic).

Buggs might be a good fit (if Buggs wants and TJ agrees); he would be a 1 year get. Would he want to come? Drew Buggs Stats, News, Bio | ESPN

Or, perhaps one of the guards mentioned in posts #1-2 here (or other)
Otzelberger's First Recruiting/Transfer Class (List in #1 and #2 posts) | CycloneFanatic: The Internet's most popular site for fans of the Iowa State Cyclones

So unless Jackson and Walker can take a big step, I think you have to get another guard to help Freshman Hunter, and Kalscheur, Grill rotation.

Has anybody talked about Javon Johnson? Is he still on the team? If so he will be a RS Sr next year, potentially 2 years remaining?

Maybe he will find a new gear with a new coach/system?
