Friday OT - Lucky Star

Whatever Cyclone shirt I wear for the first game -- If we win, I continue wearing that shirt every game day until we lose. Then the process starts over again.

Also, on the day before the game, I don't wear any color that could be interpreted as the opposing team's colors.
That's a good one. I do the same, regardless of the sporting event I attend.

On a related note, one time I threw on some clothes to run an errand with my wife. I had some black athletic shorts on quickly grabbed a yellow t-shirt from my drawer. As I started walking towards the garage my wife eyed me up and down and goes, "If you think I'm sleeping with you if you go out in public wearing those colors, you've very wrong."

I proceeded to change shirts. I didn't need to decrease my odds.

Yeah, I married well.

You're married and you still get laid? Lucky SOB.

My wife and I are huge Royals fans. During their magical run in 2014, I would make her watch the game in the bedroom while I watched in the living room because they seemed to play well (and win) whenever we had that set up.

I don’t have a ton of lucky routines. But through coincidence, Janny and I ended up eating at an IHOP while awaiting pregnancy test results from our doctor. It was positive, so we did the same routine the next two times. IHOP may empirically be terrible, but it will always hold a special place in our hearts!
This reminds me of the chili dog scene from the movie Singles. "Don't make me always remember this chili dog!"

Oh my gosh, that is crazy! Lucky, but who wants to be pregnant in Vegas??
Mrs. Velo, bless her heart, rode RAGBRAI pregnant - twice. And we were on a drinking team with a biking problem.

The first time she was able to conceal it for a few days before someone caught on why she wasn't drinking. The second time I don't think we even got out of Ames before someone figured it out.

I used to work with a guy whose side gig was head BB coach for a big school here in Minnesota. He made it a point to wear a tie with the opposing team's colors for every game. I think he thought it got in their heads.

I am careful about what I wear to ISU games: Playing Iowa or Missouri? No Black or Gold. Playing Tech? No black or red. Playing OU or kNU? No red. Playing Baylor? No gold. I want to do my part to make sure that the stadium looks full of Cyclones, not the visitors.

Pregnancy causes extreme fatigue - oh my gosh, how did she ride a bike for an entire day?!

Every time my friend went in the bathroom one game, we scored. So we made him go in the bathroom every time we got the ball.

Speaking of shirts ... I got a wild-hair to wear my swirly-bird shirt to watch the game, hoping to channel some McCarney-era CyHawk magic. At halftime, I decided to purge that idea, switched to a generic T (a green one, a random choice).

Apparently that combo works for the rivalry game, in the end. I'll have to remember that for next season. :)

So a good luck charm for the CyHawk series has been to casually watch the game with Hok friends and not really expect much. Then all of the sudden ISU makes the plays and pull it off.
