It is Rivalry Week, so I figure everyone could always use some luck.

What are your lucky routines? It isn’t necessarily superstitions, although it could be - what are things you do/wear/say, etc to bring you good luck?

Will you have a certain breakfast tomorrow morning, or wear a certain pair of underwear? What is your favorite athlete lucky activity?

This is a different take on luck, but I have a Walking Cy shirt that I make sure to leave in my closet because that shirt is like 0 for 15 whenever I've worn it on game days. It's one of my favorite pieces of ISU clothing that I have, and I can't wear the damn thing when there's a game on.

Not so much lucky as inducing the opposite, my Skeletor action figure will spend the weekend standing on Kirk's face.

Don't chuckle. **** Howser isn't chuckling.

I will wear an ISU shirt to work the day before a game or after, but never on the day of the game. So Fridays are good for football Saturdays. Basketball season varies of course. Tomorrow I'll get up, get my fountain Diet Dew with a splash of Code Red at Hy Vee gas, hit some golf balls before the game like last week and be ready!

I always use the same hand to...jk

Honestly I used to but for whatever reason don't anymore. Used to always wear my Cyclone boxers on gamedays.

I don’t have a ton of lucky routines. But through coincidence, Janny and I ended up eating at an IHOP while awaiting pregnancy test results from our doctor. It was positive, so we did the same routine the next two times. IHOP may empirically be terrible, but it will always hold a special place in our hearts!

I also NEVER wear ISU gear on game day unless I'm actually attending the game in person.

I thought maybe that was just dumb. 2020 - I broke out my favorite ISU shirt for the game opener figuring "There's no way we could lose to Louisiana."

We've got some friends with something along those lines:

They have two kids. They found out they were pregnant the first time while on a vacation with us in Florida. They found out they were pregnant the second time (literally the next time they saw us) while on vacation with us in Las Vegas.

The mom-to-be was not pleased with the timing either time (especially since the first trip was a birthday beach weekend for her.)

They swore off meeting us at a destination until some snipping could be done.

Any time I am given too much money as change, find money, win a scratch off ticket, win an NCAA office pool, win a business card drawing, I always pass it along. ALWAYS.
After I pass it along, say I'm out for dinner with my wife, the restaurant will bring out a free desert, and she'll just look at me and roll her eyes, because she knows I recently just passed it along.

That's pretty crazy!

Oh my gosh, that is crazy! Lucky, but who wants to be pregnant in Vegas??

I'll be at the Wisconsin game so I won't be able to do it this time, but for me it's that if things are going well, I have to continue doing what I'm doing. Cleaning? Better find more things to clean. Out for a walk? Continue walking. Driving somewhere? Buckle up because we are going on a drive.

When I was on the job interview kick I had particular ties that I would wear for good luck.

For ISU games, I attempt to keep a low profile. My office mate is a big Iowa guy.

I have a 4-leaf clover I keep in the otterbox of my phone. I drop my phone a lot, and it always survives - whether that's the otterbox, or the clover, or both... who knows/cares.

I have several Iowa State T-shirts (and a couple of hoodies) ... I almost exclusively wear this one, and sparingly (1) if I'm attending a game or at a friends/fans game-watch situation (2) major games on TV (NCAA tournament, bowl game, occasionally big regular-season games).

ISU isn't undefeated when I wear it, but I think success rate overall is good.

Whatever Cyclone shirt I wear for the first game -- If we win, I continue wearing that shirt every game day until we lose. Then the process starts over again.

Also, on the day before the game, I don't wear any color that could be interpreted as the opposing team's colors.
