Friday OT - Cool Teens Doing Ninja Things

Being an ancient mariner here I have to go with the classic Warner Brothers (up until the 1960s) cartoons plus some Popeye. Also Rocky and Bullwinkle cause Cold War and all and we had to fight those Russkies.
Early 70's, there was always a gathering of guys in the Dana House den to watch Duane and Floppy each afternoon and catch those classic toons. Most of those classic Warner Brothers cartoon were crafted as shorts to be shown in theaters before movies, they applied to kids but kids were not the sole audience like later kids cartoons.

He-Man Thundercats Ducktales TMNT - original. Not only great toons but the theme songs for each were off the charts good.

Same here. We only had NBC and CBS until August 1 1963 when our ABC affiliate went on the air.We didn't have cable either. Just ABC, NBC & CBS.

)I also remember the CBS affiliate in our area was on UHF. I don't know how common that was in those days (seems like I read, many years ago, CBS was more commonly on U compared to ABC & NBC ... but memory is hazy).

I didn't get a lot of parenting.

I loved the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. At the time, I had no idea it was a game that I would later make fun of.
I remember being scared of Simon Bar Sinister when I was really young.
For all y'all mentioning Transformers, Thundercats, G.I. Joe, He-Man...

I'm pretty sure Transformers was on Saturday mornings. I'd like to say GI Joe was, too, but I was only a casual watcher of that one.
My older brother was, and still is, a D&D nerd so I knew what it was. I stole some of his books after the show, but never got into it as much as he has.
My first summer at ISU, I was in the den on Pearson one morning and these guys had some kind of role playing board set up with figures and such. I had never seen something like that. The detail on everything was kinda cool so I hung around and watched them for a bit. I had played Risk and Stratego and it looked like amped up versions of that.
After about 10 minutes I left, met up with some friends, went out and played sand volleyball, got food, hung out and went to a house party. I got back to the floor around midnight-1am and those two guys were still playing in the den.
I quickly realized that their version of fun was quite different than mine.
One of my sons started playing in college and they are all scattered around the country but still play virtually somehow.
