Friday OT #3 Paul is Dead

Since some are talking about children, Deacon is no Glen Frey, but cool to see him with the Eagles now and then.

A lot of fans in 80s understandably wanted Beatles to tour with Julian Lennon because he had the singles out where his voice sounds identical to John.

George's son looks and sounds even MORE like his dad than Julian Lennon. Like they are clones.

John Bonham's son Jason is an incredible drummer and has played with Page and Plant separately but I don't think together.

He played with them when they had their big concert in London.

A nod to @Angie since we were talking about INXS.

Name a musician that you feel could have stepped in for a band needing a member.

I'm going to go with Richard Page from Mister Mister (who coincidentally tours with Ringo Starr's All Star Band) stepping in for Michael Hutchence/INXS. Incredible vocalist.

Jess Harnell of Rock Sugar
I always learn a lot on these music threads. Kudos to Jess Harnell!

Should I state the obvious Journey fill-in singer? OK. Arnel Pineda. Hard to tell the difference between him and Steve Perry. And now Jess Harnell.

Dhani Harrison opened for Jeff Lynne when I went to see "ELO" (really just Jeff Lynne but you know).

It was like a ghost had come to life to play for the crowd --

Saw him open up for Black Rebel about ten years ago and he was walking around the lobby after his set with the band. It was pretty surreal being in the same space as the son of George Harrison.

Motley Crue desperately needs a singer. ANYONE would be better than who they have now.
This is why I suggested Jess Harnell from Rock Sugar in an earlier post. Here is his band's mashup of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody/We Will Rock You and the Crue's Kickstart Your Heart. Harnell is an incredible singer/musician.

Jess Harnell of Rock Sugar - AMAZING voice talent and incredible singer. Here are a couple of stories if you are not familiar with him or his group.

Edit: I learned a lot more about Josh in these last 2 clips!. Interesting life so far!

I like finding 'new' talent. Most of the time it's just me catching up to artists I hadn't heard before. While true with this guy, he definitely is not 'new'. He's been around a while, just not that much in bands, more with film and TV stuff. He is very talented.

I wonder what he (JoshH.) was up to back in the early '80's. I only get much of a history on him starting in the '90's? Usually with a voice like he's got, a person is well known in their early 20's, or younger. He's age 58 now.

Anyway, thx for the find!

Wow. Good find! You're right!

Love the Sheepdogs! A lot of their other stuff sounds different.

I have a whole playlist of songs that I think are either purposely or accidentally imitating other artists. For example - tell me this isn’t late-70s Stones:

Some other new stuff that sound like other bands:

Mountain - Crown Lands reminds me of maybe Cream or Sabbath:

Tailor Made - Lemon Twigs - I think maybe Big Star?

Hunter’s Moon - Quaker City Night Hawks, kind of maybe ZZ Top?

Summer Sun - Ruen Brothers - sort of Johnny Cash mixed with Everly Brothers:

Going back quite a bit further with the Eagles, how about Timothy B. Schmitt, vocalist and bassist, replacing Randy Meisner 1in 1977?

Another nice find (for me). I didn't like some of their music. They (the Ruen Brothers) are also pretty young, a lot of room to evolve. I did really like this song of theirs.

I've only heard that one once or twice! They're interesting, for certain - they lean pretty hard into the Johnny Cash thing on some songs.

Janis Joplin meets Bruno Mars (I may be off here a little, ha)? This is a very talented musician, Brittany Howard, of Alabama Shakes. Great R&B/soul, Chaka Khan-esque?

I wanna put this right in the middle of some conference realignment thread, haha. I love this guy, "What It Do Dave" and his personality and happiness just listening to the music.

We can use this happiness!

There was a host on a Sirius XM program that was going to flip a coin to determine which Van Halen song he was going to play. If it was heads he would play a song with David Lee Roth as the singer. If it was tails then it would be Sammy Hagar. If the coin landed on its edge it would be Gary Cherone.
