It looks like everyone is hoarding right now. On what are you stocking up right now due to COVID-19? Are there things on which you normally stock up?

I always keep a comical amount of toilet paper in the house, just in case something happens where I'm unable to get to the store or order online for a while. So we're all fine there.

I think hoarding in awfully selfish. As such, I’ve been sure to not hoard all my sarcasm. I’m freely sharing it on CF during these trying times. You’re welcome.

Not really hoarding. Pretty much upped from a 1 1/2 week supply of groceries to 2 1/2 weeks. Not because I'm terribly concerned about supply chain interruptions, but because I am terribly concerned with idiots.

At Janny's suggestion, we got some staples yesterday. (We'd had them previously and never restocked after a massive purge this past fall.) I figured it wasn't a terrible idea, just in case something happens like - does anyone remember when the Ames Public Library was out of the old Hastings building for a while, and had to close because everyone who worked or visited was getting diarrhea, and they had to clean? If something like that happens at grocery stores, it's not a bad idea to just have some stuff.

I don't cook and hate grocery shopping, so I was wandering through the aisles yesterday at lunch considering what we could actually eventually eat. I looked at canned tuna and gravy and thought, "Well, I guess those would have protein and could help us avoid anemia... but that's dumb and never going to happen," and walked by. I got to the canned pineapple and thought, "That could prevent scurvy... WHICH WE AREN'T GOING TO GET because we're not F****** SAILORS," and didn't buy it.

...Guess what three items @Mr Janny came home bearing after a separate trip to the store last night (without having heard my internal monologue), and for what reasons?

I’m hosting a shower tomorrow! It’s still on but I’m pretty paranoid (what if I’m sick? Never mind, I’ve been in very little contact with anyone). So I’ve had to clear out the fridge for that.

As soon as it’s over, I’ll start my hoarding ;). Hopefully it’s not too late!

Disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer is our need at home right now. Wife watches a few kiddos and is constantly buying this stuff, but the hoarders took their toll. I was able to find a couple containers of wipes, but the hand sanitizer is another issue.

People at Wal-Mart yesterday had this glazed "apocalypse shuffle" thing they were doing... It's nuts!

One would think that stores would start to do something like "limit 2 per order" or something like that. People being completely stupid has a real effect on others.

Was at Walmart for other reasons and decided to see if TP was there. There was some available so figured why not. Grabbed an extra few rolls.

I don’t have an insane amount of TP, but with 5 females in the house we go through our fare share. I did grab a few canned veggies and fruit yesterday since we tend to eat fresh fruit. Bought apples which keep (although we go through them fast). I have quite a few frozen meat options in the freezer. Bought like a box of cold meds. Other than that I am hoping we have what we “need”.

Self check outs are hard to police unless they have store personnel in place, if you place limits on items. I would think TP wouldn't be to hard to limit. Hy-Vee in Ames had sign up for that, but the shelves were empty.

I’m with Janny. I also got turkey spam which sounds horrible.

Did my usual grocery shopping. I usually go two/three times a week for fresh fruit and stuff so lots of mini trips. Kinda tried to rethink it some. Still didn't alter my list much although I now have an extra couple of boxes of rice and an extra loaf of bread in the freezer. Also bought a big bag of Hershey's Kisses, cause chocolate and comforting.

Wish I'd bought some canned veggies and fruit. Might make a quick pop over this morning....think this evening and weekend is gonna be cray cray at the stores.

I have stuff I would usually buy, just started buying more of it little by little about a month ago being that I work with a doomsday prepper kind of guy. Now when I use something I just take from the front and buy another to replace it.
