Friday OT #1 - Jeremy Bearimy

Way back when - M*A*S*H. I rarely watched it in it's original run because "I don't like War shows." Caught up with it in reruns in the 80's. Saw most all of them several times at least. Now I have no desire to see it again at all

Believe it or not - Leave It To Beaver. While it along with I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island were the most heavily syndicated shows for years it was never in our market ever. I remember about 1970 going to St. Louis with my Dad and brother (on leave from the Air Force) for a Cardinals game. It happened to be on TV in the hotel room in the afternoon before we left for the game.

The Sopranos. I didn't have HBO at the time. Saw it on Amazon about 6-12 months ago. Incredible series!

Burn Notice & Monk are two that come to mind. A show that ran before/during the time I was born (that I watch A LOT now) is Hogan's Heroes.

I have a lot of examples, lots of TV shows that I watched that started before I was even born. A recent example, however - I started watching The Good Place after the last season had officially finished during quarantine, and finished it up. It was delightful.

The Good Place was really delightful. Watched it with my wife via Netflix just a couple months ago. I recall seeing the ads for it when it first came out, and based on those I thought "man, this looks like a really stupid show". Over time kept hearing people say good things, but I don't watch a ton of TV. Finally my wife started watching it via Netflix, which tends to be the only reason I consume most of the TV I do, and boy was it an enjoyable show.

Firefly was all about the characters and how much I cared about them. They packed so much into that one season and hastily tried to resolve it with Serenity, which I enjoyed, but also made me sad for what could have been with a full series run.

I got introduced to Firefly in college via a Season 1 DVD, and I still feel sad that the series didn't get the run that it should have. It comes out in the age of Netflix and peak streaming, and I bet it's still around.

Or maybe it doesn't and I'm just biased, but boy did I enjoy the 1 season they had.

I did The Sopranos after the fact, and liked it so much I bought all the seasons. Gotta get back into that again soon. (FWIW, I'm a sucker for any mob movie/series.)

Also watched GoT after the fact.....the vixen begged me to watch it with her (for the second time, for her). The first episode I watched, I wasn't real thrilled - but she insisted I stay with it, and I'm glad I did.

I was advised that The Office got better after the first season and I agree. Getting my wife to watch more than a few episodes if she's not hooked immediately is difficult.

Friends, Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory. I did catch the last couple of seasons of the Big Bang Theory "live," so to speak, but all the other seasons I've had to watch in syndication.
 
Well since I sent Angie the suggestion Monk was the show I was thinking of. I think I could have a beer and watch TV with KentKel we both like Hogan's Heroes

I have a coworker who loves Parks And Rec, but couldn't get past season 1 of The Office. We've tried to convince her to give it a shot, especially given that Season 1 of Parks and Rec is basically a clone of The Office, but it hasn't worked yet.

Schitt's Creek is another one of those shows where you have to get past the first few episodes. Otherwise, if you're a small town person you'll probably just be offended, and if you don't enjoy watching terrible people on TV, you'll ask yourself, "Why am I watching this?". But it's definitely worth it to make it past the beginning.

Yeah, my wife didn't like Schitts Creek until a few episodes in and then she absolutely loved it.
We also both like Parks and Rec, but she preferred it after the first season when it was less about the Parks and Rec office and more about the characters.

I'm ok watching The Office by myself because it's funny as crap, but I can also see that it's probably just not my wife's brand of comedy.
