Do people think Colbray was any good at 84 this year? His performance is not weight related.
Yes, he struggled at 184 earlier this year, but last year it appeared he had turned the corner. I'm sure the weight cut is not the only thing wrong, but stacking it on top of whatever else he is going through is probably not helping.

You wonder if is just burnt out on wrestling? I could see him moving onto the next step in life if he is on track to graduate. Something like Harrington did. He is an interesting case of so much talent and the performances are so up and down. Wish the kid all the best and hope he gets it turned around this year.
Starting to think that might be the case. It's fine those things happen. It's not like he's a bad kid, he will end up succeeding at school and life.

He was very good at 184 last year, and didn't hit any big bumps this year until the weight change. So I disagree. At least top #12 is rankings throughout the year. Wrestling now at 40 lbs below his HS weight. How ready ya'll are to throw him under the bus.
Not throwing him under the bus at all- have been a huge fan of Sam all along but something isn't right and I don't think it is soley weight related. He had some bumps at 184 this year. Love this kid and hoping he turns it around.

Funny, I thought of Harrington, too. I saw Sam was sitting with Dresser last night after his match. Really want him to get back in a groove and finish out the season strong.

I was actually pretty hopeful at the start of the season. He wrestled Lujan hard at the cyclone open, but it’s just not panned out. A ton of potential, I just don’t know where it’s going to end up.

Same here. The second half of last year Colbray looked really good. It seemed that Dresser had gotten him to finally perform. Something clicked.

However, this year has been the same old guy. It’d be nice if the could find whatever switch they found last year, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Just got to watching the dual, and I was really impressed with Small. He put it on the guy in the 3rd period. Seems like he responded well after last week.

Coleman also looked a little better.

Still need to figure out how to get Colbray to respond.

Colbray had a great sweep single about 20 or 30 seconds in, but from that point on none of his attacks had the same gusto. He kept trying to hit that sweep single or just get to Martino's legs and Martino kept throwing in a deep underhook and tossing Colbray around or just countering with some heavy hips.

I don't know if Colbray is gassing or if there's something going on in his head where he loses focus and mat/positional awareness as the match goes on.

I felt like this is how the Anthony Valencia match went too. Great takedown at the start followed by a slow implosion the next 6 minutes.

Was the Aden Reeves score accurate in the Finals at the tournament this past week? TF 18-3

Metcalf did the media conference this week , its on Cyclones.com some good stuff in it. Like hearing from the different coaches
Yeah he did a really good job I thought. What I gathered from it was a few of the guys mentally aren't there. I don't mean not there with their heart but just getting the edges sharpened back up.

This was a great presser by Metcalf. I loved the detail and energy. Couple thoughts that I had when listening to this are...1)David Carr is either getting a needed rest or maybe getting his knee scoped simply to clean it up but he'll be back and maybe better than ever. (I don't really know what the oil change means either, lol)... 2)Colbray is still adjusting to his weight but Metcalf still believes in him... I guess, I will trust the coaches and give the kid some more time this year. 3) Degen is back but changing his style to protect his shoulder (which should be a net positive).

Thanks jkbuff98 for turning me onto the presser.

How do we get the presser?

Colbray earned some criticism but the fact is the potential is there. He has the physical abilities to turn a corner and make a solid run but he’s running out of time.

What exactly does changing his style entail? His offense off his feet is so damn unorthodox that I worry about it limiting his effectiveness to get those slide bys and scramble as efficiently as he was pre injury
