Remember how the cover-up of a stupid burglary brought down a US president? This obviously isn't a matter of national interest but the same principle applies.
The cover-up has now spread to Des Moines and I've got a feeling that Leath isn't the only one who will pay a big price. Rastetter and Donnelly are going to get bloodied up as well.

If Rastetter feels any heat, he clearly will turn on Leath. However, I doubt he ever feels any heat with the governor.
I like the regent who said that Leath said he informed his 'boss'---meaning the Rat. This regent pointed out that all of the regents are Leath's boss. I like this Subhash Sahai person.

Well Subhash has degrees from every BoR university except Iowa State.

Board President Bruce Rastetter said Thursday that he's extremely disappointed that Leath has used the planes on multiple occasions in ways that appear "questionable at best."
“Frankly, I’m extremely disappointed. We as the Board of Regents take the use of the university resources very seriously and in more than a few instances, the decision to use the plane appears to be questionable at best,” said Rastetter.
The board's audit committee voted to order its internal auditor to review not only Leath's flights on university planes during his five-year tenure, but all flights on university aircraft since 2012. Rastetter said the report must be detailed and answer all questions about the trips.
“Questions have been raised. We will answer those in a transparent manner, and I have great trust in independent audit systems, and your independent audit system will carry this out very well,” said board member Larry McKibben. “I’m a fact based person, and I want the facts and the data, and I want it supportable.”
In response to the audit, Leath told the board he welcomes it, and will be engaged in the complicated review.
“Clearly there are areas where I and the university can improve, and I pledge to improve and do better,” said Leath. ”At Iowa State, I and the whole university, are committed to adhering to university and board policies, and we welcome review. And I am fully supportive and will be fully engaged in the more complicated review that will be coming forth this fall.”

Things are getting a bit murkier for Leath it appears. I like the fact that ISU has raised more money during Leath's tenure than in any other similar time period in history. However there definitely appears to be some concerning behavior when it comes to his relationship with the foundation.

I share your concern on letting them hire a new president.
The jobs at the university they gave to politicians without advertising really bother me.

This is exactly how I feel. The BOR is even more dominated by Branstad cronies now. I would be worried who we would end up with if Leath is pushed out. Some big business CEO with no experience in academia. Leath at least is experienced in both. Maybe it doesn't matter since whoever it will just be taking marching order from Rastetter and BOR anyway.
