Fire all the coaches.

Guys that make 6 & 7 figures have no egos and are not stubborn at all and have no reason to try to prove themselves knowing they still get a fat paycheck every week. Rich people in sports have never been known to be like this.

The official world order of professional intelligence goes like this:

1) Rocket Scientist
2) Brain Surgeon
3) Football Coach
4) Astrophysicist
5)Chemical Engineer

#1 is Rocket Surgeon

Moreso, they would look at his record since the Okie State game, the one that should have been a landmark victory for a new era or something, and say "well, he went 7-18 (today, possibly 7-21 by season's end) since that game. He just isn't getting the job done."

When you fire someone in their 5th year, nobody blinks.
When you fire someone in their 5th year whose program is in a free fall, it makes sense to people everywhere.

I'm not all the way there, but I wouldn't feel bad for him or concerned for the future. 1-8 is what it is. What it is is a very replaceable coach and staff.

How I'm feeling at this point. I'd hate that he couldn't get it done here, but yeah, I wouldn't really complain at this point if they cleared everyone out.

The reality is CPR probably isn't on the hot seat for another 4 years or so because of his contract. That contract is his best friend right now.

You get ONE chance to lose 10+ games. You CAN'T be allowed to do it twice. This year looks like it will be year one for PR to do that. So, he is on the hot seat...

At ISU we tend to put up with losing coaches for about 2-3 years longer than most schools. We always find excuses to do so.

Maybe that's why we're one if the worst 5 BCS schools historically? I'm not sure what the answer is frankly.

Why run a pass play with a QB who hadn't thrown a pass all game on the last 3rd down? Should have either ran it or use Rohach if we were going to pass.

3rd and 5 and time is becoming TCU's enemy. You don't have to get it all on 3rd. Do any kind of run play that can pick up even a single yard, force a timeout. Line up to go for it on fourth, attempt to get defense to jump offside, first down game over. Defense likely doesn't fall for it, take the delay of game and punt.

And actually having a good punt would help.

Roll him out and give him a run pass option. Sam's had his best runs when he's been able to do that.

This item three may have a great variance.

I just really want to know what Offensive Coordinator candidates will be available at the end of this year.

What MAC OC is ready to step up?
Which big school will be cleaning house and freeing someone up?
Does CPR have the guts to hire that small school guy from CO?

Is it rare to not have a quarterbacks coach?

I don't know in college football if it's rare to not have one? I guess I don't know. May be a decent investment.

Not sure if you're trying to be a smartass or just don't pay any attention.

Re: Is it rare to not have a quarterbacks coach?

Do you really not understand that Mess is the QB coach in addition to being OC? I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.

Here's how I read his post -- NOT having a QB coach would be a "decent investment!"

IE, not coaching the QB's at all may be better than having Mess try!

:spinny: (Just kidding .... OR AM I?)

Sorry, but this teams coaching staff is pathetic

Yes, I am a true die hard cyclone fan, but come on. I can't blame the team, but whoever is calling the offensive plays ought to be fired!!!! Game after game I see the stupidest plays called, that might have made a difference in the outcome of the game. Even my 12 year old grandson is questioning calls. I love this team and feel bad for them, but I really feel that coaching changes need to be made fast.
