Fire all the coaches.

Our A.D. took a tremendous gamble by showing Coach Dan the door. The football program suffered a serious setback all because the A.D. was not confident Coach Dan could take ISU to the next level. This is not about the football coaches, the question is whether or not the A.D. should be held accountable for a gamble which is looking increasingly disastrous. The A.D. made a big picture move to take the football program to the next level and the big picture is not looking good. The problem is not the coaches--the problem is an A.D. who blew up a fragile football program only to leave the fans now wishing the program could be back to where it was when the A.D. declared "not good enough".

Thing is firing everyone doesn't fix the lack of talent we have up front. Hire someone who can bring some big nasty uglies with them.

This is wrong, there are some good offensive lineman. This is the same garbage we have heard since Rhoads started. Guess what, we had 3 NFL lineman at the same time in Hicks, Osemeli and Bykowski (4 if you include Farniok). What was the excuse with those guys? Horrible offensive line is all I heard. I think that is a fallacy, all offensive coaches should be gone.

Mess's resume:
Mess' top 2 coaching gigs (where he had his highest titles prior to becoming OC here at ISU):

Offensive Coordinator at Missouri State 1999-2002. Team records of 5-6, 5-6, 6-5, & 4-7 during those years.
1999 losses, the offense scored in each loss: 14, 49, 23, 17, 42, 21
2000 losses: 7, 13, 10, 13, 19, 0
2001 losses: 19, 20, 3, 7, 10
2002 losses: 24, 23, 7, 20, 20, 17, 24

Head coach at Upper Iowa 2003-2004. Records for each year, 1-9 and 2-8

After that, he was positional coach at Southern Miss for 3 years, then back to Missouri State (with Terry Allen) as special teams & receivers coach.

Still confounded how he got the position in the 1st place.

It's still a better resume than the self proclaimed OC's on this site.

Great post. Applies to the entire offense.

I recall seeing this and thought, "I hope this guy is a decent position coach." When he replaced Herman, I was like, "Okay, I really don't see it, but Rhoads mush know something."

It's time for him to be demoted at the very least. I think his credibility is gone. We need a real QB coach in my opinion, because it's obvious that the position is being mishandled.

**** that. Is the lack of talent the problem or what they are being asked to do. Having a decent game plan and having something that works would help the line out a lot. When the D knows what is coming it makes everyone job a lot harder.

Someone mentioned Frank Beamer having a poor season in year 5 or 6. That made sense at the time, but his bad year wasn't a total embarrassment.

I don't think there's a recovery from this season's destination.

While I don't want to get too down on this year, you may be right. Rhoads being too loyal may be his downfall.

Actually, you forgot Reggie Stephens, I think he is still on a practice squad. He was a good linemen as well.

As bad as our offense is, player for player our defense is worse. This is the absolute worst Dline group I have seen at ISU in many years, the LBers are trapped in the middle because of it--cleaning up plays the line should be making, and the defensive backs cannot cover one on one. The zones behind the front seven are just HUGE for any halfway decent passer/receiver combination. And the missed tackles, my goodness! Way, way too many recruiting misses on that side of the ball.
