I bet ISU ends up 13 or 14.....the rankings are made so that the SEC/Big10 occupies the top spots...so if you never play a team that high you can't move up past them.

Just like how the media ranks teams like Missouri, A&M and SC so that when Bama or Georgia beats them they get ranked wins.

It would have helped our chances to make the Top 10 if Colorado and Iowa had won. Now we may need an Alabama loss vs Michigan, a S Carolina loss vs Illinois and an Arizona State win vs Texas. If that happens, then both BYU and ISU are pretty much guaranteed a Top 10 finish. Worst case is ISU at # 13.

I don’t see any world whatsoever in which we are top 10. Id be shocked with anything higher than 14.

Splitting hairs but I wouldn't be shocked at 13-14, but anything 12 or better I would fall out of my chair. I expect 14-18.

Must be all time conference winning seasons, or just looking at Big 12 maybe. All time ISU has 258 conference wins, MC has 45 of them.
You're right, it's Big 12 conference wins. Thanks for clarifying. I edited the post.

I guessed 15 to 16. We are 18th coming into bowl season. Would have helped our cause for Iowa to beat Mizzou yesterday. I worry they may jump us since they are 19th and are in the SEC and all. I think we'll definitely jump Miami - who was 13th - and probably Clemson who finished with 4 losses. Edit: we will also jump Alabama after their loss to Michigan. Ole Miss and SMU are the other two we could jump, but not sure. If Ole Miss losses, we will jump them, and SMU seems like a toss-up to me. Thus, the best possible result seems to be 13th, but the worst seems to be 16th or so.

Hope we start next year ranked in the top 20. It's probably more important where we start next year. That will help us a lot (and the conference) to start higher in the polls. Hope we can still pull in some big time transfers.

Seven seasons with a winning record in conference. SEVEN. Doing it at all was extremely rare before he got here.

There were so few winning conference records (there were a few more .500 conference records) that 7 winning seasons is mind-blowing to me. The success we've had over the last 9 years is freaking amazing and none of us should take it for granted.

With 57 votes cast so far, I am the only one who has predicted a Top 10 finish. I will like ISU's chances even better if Illinois can hold on against S Carolina!

Incredibly, all of the teams ranked # 7 through # 15 in the most recent AP poll have lost their last game (and some in embarrassing fashion). Unfortunately, one of those teams that lost was # 10 Arizona State who showed today that they were very much under-rated. So I don't think there's much doubt that the final Top 12 will look something like this. The only question is how far Tennessee drops.

1 to 6: Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame, Texas, Penn State, Ohio State.

7: Arizona State
8. Ole Miss (if they beat Duke tomorrow)
9. BYU
10. Iowa State
11. Tennessee
12. Boise State

As expected by many, the voters basically honored the playoff teams being top 12. Only non playoff team to break into top 12 was Ole Miss.

BYU stayed ahead of us - not surprising and arguably deserving given how they boat raced CU in their bowl.

15 sounds about right. One could make an argument we should be ahead of some of the first round losers with lesser SOR but not at all surprised to see top 12 stay largely in tact.
