Was I the only one unaware that the official fiesta bowl trophy is worth about $1.4 million? The football on the top alone is about $600,000. The owners of that thing have to be shitting bricks during the trophy presentation.

Unfortunately the trophy the team brought home is a replica.

That explains a lot.

I believe the original "art" is worth that. But it's my understanding that the original is brought out for the presentation only, and the team actually takes home a less valuable (but equally impressive) replica. I think the original has a significant amount of precious metals and gems.

One original. The current trophy was introduced in 2002. So I would imagine a replica has been made every year.

Here is the old trophy.View attachment 80425

It has over 2,000 individual diamonds weighing over 50 carats. Not sure how much gold and silver but significant amounts of those too.

Also, it weighs over 200 lbs.

Why on earth is it made out of anything besides plastic and rhinestones? Why waste perfectly good money on such a thing? Good lord, if I owned the Fiesta bowl, the trophy would be 5 foot tall, but only cost me like $500 at the local trophy shop.

Alternately, it could be an old Ford Fiesta. It would be less valuable, but still kind of neat.

Ford Fiesta and the winning coach and ghost ride that whip on the field like Marshawn on the medical cart at Cal
