I think we need to get our licks in on UCF now before they become a monster. Such a big school and they have young money right now. Not old guy money. When the young money becomes old guy money I think they will be a big player in the game.

I'd love to know how they got that number.

The total W-L for FB/MBB/WBB was 59-25 (.702).
Even if you take the three individual percentages and average them, it's still only .719.

Might have weighted football heavier than basketball to balance the amount of games played.

Yeah no idea what they did, if you make football worth half and wbb & mbb each worth a quarter you get close but still not quite the number they give, 73.56% for Iowa State.

This brings up a question I've been wondering about, if you polled college sports fans (everything from very casual to die-hards) what would be the third most popular sport? (Football is obviously #1 and men's basketball is #2.) I think the list of possibilities would be baseball, hockey, wrestling, volleyball, and women's basketball.

If we're limiting to college (not college + pro), I would guess:
1. Football
2. Men's basketball
3. Baseball
4. Women's basketball
5. Volleyball (if both men/women combined)
6. (maybe tie) Hockey, wrestling

I put hockey & wrestling that low because they seem more niche sports with fewer D1 schools participating, although I'm sure those who follow each are passionate and would have them ranked maybe 2nd. WBB has more wide appeal.

Baseball is concentrated in South, West and some Big Ten, so it's a little narrow, but in general the game is popular.

Totally speculating.

If you ask me football defiantly number 1. 2 and 3 would be MBB and WBB and a toss-up between which is 2 and 3.

I'm pretty much in agreement, I would guess:

3. Women's basketball
4. Baseball

7. Hockey

I think women's basketball has the most casual fans (both nationally and fans of a particular school that casually follow their wbb team). Baseball, volleyball, wrestling, and hockey all have really passionate fan groups, but not as much wide appeal.

Care to elaborate? Because in terms of attendance, tv viewership, and revenue there is a wide gulf between mbb and wbb.

Agree with all your points. I was just answering in terms of my personal preference. For me I enjoy the women's game as much as the men's game. A good part of that is that I can much better seats for wbb than mbb, so I am more involved in the game when we are at Hilton.

That makes perfect sense. I really enjoy volleyball for similar reasons.

I enjoy volleyball as well, but never played it, so I don't really understand strategy or anything like that.
