People are saying Adam Gray is compromised by the JHawks.
And we all know Bill Self is the kind to record all local hotel room activity of opposition visitors. Just tell us what he has and it will strip their power.
Or JJ Reddick. Brian Cardinal was making over 10 million a year sitting on the bench for the TWolves for quite some time. Morris will make a roster.
He's not as good a passer as Royce White was. Which is not a knock on Monte but more one on the huge wasted talent that White was.
Most players overseas don't make "millions". There are some cases but you might get $200k per year in the German league. And they tend to give Americans 1-year contracts so there's always a lot of uncertainty and transition (Kane has been on more teams than years played in Europe; McThree has changed teams about every year). The BB can be pretty good in Europe though.
I wouldn't call White a wasted talent. Certainly not for ISU. Can you imagine what that Iowa State team would have been without him? So he didn't make it in the NBA. So what? He was told by the NBA he could have an independant doctor evaluate his mental health for games, then they took that away when he signed his contract. He's a really well spoken young man that is standing up for what he believes in. I, for one, respect the hell outta that.
As a side note, White was picked up in the Canadian basketball league by the London Lightning. In his 5th and 6th games ever, he posted the CNBL's first back to back triple doubles. I know the competition isn't great, but it's awesome to see him be able to play the game again.
I was more surprised that Kane did not make an NBA roster. I felt he might have been the most gifted of Hoiberg transfers.
I know what you mean about that 'sixth sense type passer'. Monte is still a good to great passer, but he's a once in a generation type of ball handler where Tinsley and Royce were often turnover machines. He had that ball handling skill from day 1 here that was frankly above and beyond about anyone playing basketball at any level, but year by year it's starting to translate into better on the ball defending on the other end.
Royce allowed the program to skip an entire year of development in the results column. Not much more you can ask of a one year player.
I don't think any of us can comment on his struggles in the NBA one way or the other in terms of how much of it was his situation and how much of it he may have self destructed.
Yeah but his inability to handle it cost him his platform. I think White is more talented than half the 4s and 5s in the league right now without question. Drummond is a dominant big man and White essentially had him over his knee in that NCAA game. I just wish he could have kept it together because that success story would really have reflected well on the program.
I truly think it was an issue of the Rockets being unwilling to make sure mental health was an important factor. His big issue always seemed to be mental health came first and if that wasn't the case he wasn't going to listen to you.
