Favorite World City

McDonald's has NOTHING on Starbucks, though. Does the term, "Can't swing a dead cat without hitting one" mean anything to anyone?

More like can't walk a block on 5th Avenue in New York City (excluding Chinatown) without running into one...

Christchurch New Zealand and the gateway to Lord of the Rings
Krakov Poland is getting better also.

Not too many popular stops in india, Thailand, Vietnam, China, or Japan.....

The French are too smug.

Surprised Barcelona Spain did not show up more.

What is your favorite destination in Africa? Cairo, Egypt?

Oh, snap.

How about Cadiz, in Spain?

Nice, older city, but still cheap because the tourists haven't beat it to death. Went there last Thanksgiving and stayed in an ocean-side resort for $100 a day, all inclusive, except for alcohol, and had wine or beer with every meal. My bar bill at the end of the week, drinking local beer and wine? $47. Total.

Plus, beaches are all public access, all the time. You can literally run for miles and miles without obstruction.

I thought Tallinn was pretty sweet. Stockholm was interesting, but I enjoyed Copenhagen and Helsinki more. Berlin is one of the coolest cities in the world too, I forgot it earlier on my list.

I'm jealous you got to see St. Petersburg....someday.

I was never really impressed with Helsinki. I lived in Turku, Finland for 6 months and made it to Helsinki a number of times, but I guess I never saw what was so great about it. And it helped that Stockholm was just a 10 hour booze cruise across the gulf from Turku - getting there was half the fun!

As far as Copenhagen - I spent 30 hours in an airport there after my flight was canceled and I never got to actually see the city! I would like to go back (just not to the airport...)

St. Petersburg is really cool - I went with some native Russians and not a tour group, so it was especially nice. I want to go to Moscow someday.

I would also add Reykjavik (and Iceland as a whole) to my list - that city is simply stunning!

Euro bottles of wine baby  (literally, 1 Euro)

When I was in Spain my roommate and I went on like a month long strech where we split a bottle of wine every night for dinner (Our host mom accused us of being drunks because of it...)

Most nights we just got 1-2 Euro bottles... towards the end I splurged on a 6 Euro bottle.

It wasn't crappy wine either, it was pretty decent...

See your problem was you were in the wrong country - the Holy Grail is in Valencia, Spain

Or atleast thats what they claim.... it's in a Cathedral what was about a 25 minute walk from where I stayed, and just a couple buildings down from a McDonalds... (Yes, McDonalds has that long of a reach)
Be fair, they adjust to their local surrounds, I mean in Germany they have McBeers.

I hope it's better than the crappy beer they sold in Spain

My roommate got one and he couldn't even finish it. I think I finished mine but it was nasty

On a side note... one of the MdD's had a walk up window, thought that was pretty cool

Oh, yeah!!!! My local grocer carries all the Euro brands that are one Euro. I have Spanish, Italian, Slovenian, Croatian and German wines from time to time, and just love spending EUR 6 on a case....

And, hey, my wife thinks its good for me:yes: so she encourages my "habit."
