fannies in the stands...

I wouldn't underestimate the effect the late harvest had on the game. There are a lot of people beyond farmers that were working this weekend including me. The hawks may wear the ANF stickers on their helmets, but a huge number of ISU fans are actually directly involved with agriculture.

I thought the atmosphere was much better this week. The crowd seemed into it a lot more and not just in big situations. I think the crowd was showing some thanks for all the hard work this team has put in this season.

Great job team, fans and the coaching staff!

I thought it was a great crowd. The upper corners were nearly full. If there was any shortage of fans, it was on the hillsides.

In terms of attendance, we must learn to walk before we run. Think about it - How many attended in 2005 when a division title was on the line? 35,000. Even if the weather was crap there still would have been 40k there today.

In prior years, we filled the stadium at the end of the year with $10 tickets. Now we're selling them in $99 mini packs. We certainly are making progress.

I was dissapointed in the crowd right before the game when the seniors were introduced. It was pathetic not being there for that.

It took a while but the stadium did fill up pretty good a ways into the 1st quarter and they were in the game and loud until the end when most got into their seats.

Pretty decent crowd. If you put all the people on the grass in seats it was probably close to full

Actually I think the crowd was better than 5 years ago when we played Missouri to win the north, but I don't want to bring up bad memories

I really thought there would be more people there with bowl game on the line and senior day, I had a extra ticket that no one wanted, couldnt even give it away. The crowd stayed cause it was a game till the end, it looked like we might blow it again....

I expected a smaller crowd than last week and was pleasantly surprised. The crowd that was there was great today.

Couldn't make this one. Caught it on Game Tracker while sitting on the veranda staring at the Atlantic down here in Florida. It was a GREAT day for football. 81 degrees, sunny.

I don't see how the words "disappointing" and "embarrassing" keep coming up regarding the attendance at the game today. from where I was sitting, once everybody came in from the lots, the place looked pretty full except for the CO section (which was pathetic). The atmosphere was great, the entire section I was in was up and screaming like crazy nearly all game (I was not in the student section either). Until we're consistently good, we're not gonna sell out a cold game vs. CO during the harvest. Comparing us to NU is apples and oranges, I hate to say it but they've got tradition and a handful of National Championships that fill their stands more than the product on the field.

The only thing that makes me wonder why there wasn't more people is this game was part of the mini pack with Iowa and NDSU which were both sellouts. are people just letting tickets go to waste??? There's plenty of people on CF that would take some free/cheap tickets, why let them go unused?

Section 18?

I was also in 18 and saw somebody go flying out of there with a child in like the 3rd quarter?? we all assumed it was some kind of a poop/vomit mess.

what the heck smelled like fish in the first half??

For anyone that thinks the crowd was pathetic, you will not have a sore throat and lost voice like EVERYONE in my section will have....
I am so proud of the crowd and fans out there today!
Definitely struggling to talk tonight. I guess I'll stick to typing.

For you statistics junkies out there:

Iowa State average home attendance (NCAA)

1998 - 35,181 3-8 (1-7)
1999 - 39,930 4-7 (1-7)
2000 - 42,020 9-3 (5-3)
2001 - 45,172 7-5 (4-4)
2002 - 43,961 7-7 (4-4)
2003 - 44,822 2-10 (0-8)
2004 - 45,764 7-5 (4-4)
2005 - 46,705 7-5 (4-4)
2006 - 46,171 4-8 (1-7)
2007 - 49,462 3-9 (2-6)
2008 - 47,429 2-10 (0-8)
2009 - 46,423 6-5 (3-4)*

Funny, that the largest average crowd was Chizik's first year. But ISU's attendance has definitely grown.
