F1 2026 Discussion

I don't know if the race will be any good this weekend but I can't wait to see what everyone has. The only thing I know for sure is Merc, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mclaren will the top 4 and Aston will be last.

I don't think Aston will complete more than 10 laps... Rumors circling that they may not even make the formation lap.

Constructors
McLaren
Merc
Ferrari
Red Bull
Williams
Haas
VCarb
Audi
Alpine
Cadillac
Aston

Drivers
George
Lando
Max

Lando is still my favorite driver, but of the other people that have a realistic chance I'd like to see a Charles WDC, for the ones that don't I'd definitely want Carlos. I would also accept another Lewis WDC.

Someone could jump out to a huge lead to start the year and once a team figures out the issues could come way back. I am guessing a Charles or George jump out to a huge lead and Max catches and either passes them or barely loses to them. All depends on how quit the driver and the constructors figure out the new rides. Also, just because it's the fastest it does not sound like that will matter as much with the energy deployment stuff. Would like to see George or Charles win one but if I am betting money, I would never bet against Max.

Ferrari
Mercedes
McLaren
Red Bull
Audi
Haas
VCARB
Williams

Aston

Russell
Max
Charles
Lando

Ferrari wins the constructors but Lewis and Charles pull enough points from each other that neither one of them have a shot at the WDC at the end of the season.

Saw some of the stuff Honda was saying about the engine issues from testing, and none of it was good or quick to fix.
How does Honda blow it that bad with their first year of new engine regs twice in a row? The engineers aren't dumb but when they came back with the McLaren last time around it was a disaster that first year too.

Part of that is... Redbull took most of the engineers under them when they started RBPT... they're starting from square 1... again... and i guess the Newey design was VERY aggressive as well.

I don't wonder if Lawrence Stroll looks to sell this year if it's a disaster.

I think Fernando will end up running the Indy 500 over Canada. I bet him and Brown will have a deal before Bahrain.

It’s wild it’s this bad, seeing the rumor of them only running a few laps going around more and more so I’m guessing it’s true.

Watched the Indy Race yesterday. Poor Mick. Dude wreck on his first lap and it wasn't his fault. Felt for him. Hopefully he has a good season and can find a long term home in Indy car.
Palou is ruining that series. I don't have anything against him, he's an amazing talent, but that's the problem, he is so far above everyone elses level, he just runs away with races. I was hoping someone would come up with something, but it looks like this year will pretty much be like last year. The only chance anyone else will have will be on short ovals. Other than that, everyone is fighting for 2nd place.

Well Lewis and Max did that in F1. Wonder if any F1 team will get him to move to F1? I would love to see him run beside Max at Red Bull or next to George

Don't think it's going to happen, it would have happened already. I don't think he'd take the Herta route, but i expect Herta in the cadillac in 2 years.

Really interested to see how he stacks up against the competition in F2.

True, but at least F1 the car is a very important part. Even Max, in a bad car can't run away with the championship. Indy is basically a spec series, with two engines to choose from. I think the only real difference in the cars is teams can develop their own dampers.

And as far as Palau in F1. I think that was the plan originally with McClaren before Ganassi, but with CGR, that's where he'll stay. Palau is already 28. If he wanted to be in F1, he'd have to be making a move for that now. I think too many F1 teams have invested too much in their junior drivers to just go out and grab a guy from Indycar. That's why Herta isn't there anymore.

I agree but not sure why Williams or Haas would not be trying to get him to move. Maybe it's to much money now to get him. He will demand to much. I think there would be a better chance now that he won the Indy 500. I know that was a huge goal of his and his dads.

F1 is all about the money a driver brings with them, especially the lower teams like Williams and Haas. That's why Herta is talked about as an option. Not because he's better than Palau, it's because he might be good enough and Gainbridge will be bringing big time sponsorship to any car he's in. Basic talent means very little to F1 teams now adays. They have their pick of guys with enough talent, it's how much money can you bring to the team.

This Aston martin thing could get really bad. They are only going to qualify this weekend and run a couple laps before retiring the car. No way Fernando sticks around for this nonsense. This could last the whole year if they don't figure out something really fast. Which at this point I can't see them doing
