F1 2025 Discussion

I think Ollie is going to be very good eventually. Give him 2-3 years of suffering at HAAS and he'll be in Maranello.

I think all of the rookies look to be pretty serviceable so far outside of Lawson. In his case, I think you're right and the car is a shitbox. Time will tell though.

I think two things are true.
1 - they promoted the wrong driver
2 - the red bull is a shitbox

Honestly I don't know what there's left for Yuki to prove at this point. He's a good driver but maybe a bit of a hot head.

Which i think is a little over done tbh... he's toned it down the last few years, but my god, VCARB is so bad at strategy, i can understand why he's frustrated.

I want to see Yuki in an Aston. I think that is potentially in play with Aston going to Honda in 26.

Hell, i could see Max leaving, this car is an absolute shitbox. In no way shape or form should a Hass be over taking an RB with ease. i get the car is hard to drive and get the tires fired up. I don't think the RB Academy is very good any more, but when you're catering to 1 driver, and 1 driver only, no **** they're going to burn through drivers.

The narrative around RB is finally changing a bit I think, and more people are talking about the car. Since Daniel they've had 4 drivers who haven't been able to make it in that second car and they're all proven F1 drivers. Lawson the least so, but he was fine in an VCARB.

They can try Yuki in that RB, I think he's earned a shot, but there really isn't any reason to think he's the guy that's going to turn that around.

As someone that would like to see Yuki get a seat next year, I'd almost rather he not get put in that car. Seems like it's basically impossible to drive.

The thing that makes me mad about the Yuki deal is Christian Horner now coming out saying Yuki tested very well in the Red Bull. So if he tested very well in it, and he beat Lawson in head to head every race and qualifying last year, why didn't he get the ride? Was it sponsorship money that Lawson brings? I don't know if you brings any but why not promote Yuki. You would think with the Japanese fan base he would be the money guy. Also, if Yuki starts driving the Red Bull and starts doing good. Is the Red Bull as bad as they say? I would like to see Max switch to a car like Mercedes and see if that car is much better. Although Kimi seems to be the real deal at this point. Kid is 18 and scoring points and competing. Next year is going to be fun with all the new cars just seeing who is in the top of the field with the new rides.

RB has to think that Yuki's ceiling isn't high enough to put in that seat. It's the only reason to keep leaving him in that VCARB seat, they see him as more of a Perez, fine but not good enough to win the constructors with.

That or they are listening to an 85 year old Helmet Marko who is way past his prime and likes to throw around his power. Helmet reminds me of Vince Mcmahon. Like dude you made a lot of great decisions over your time but step aside now and let the younger guys make the decisions.

The Verstappen's want him around and that's about all I got for why he's still on the paddock. That team is in for a rough period if Max ever looks elsewhere in F1 or another series.

If I was a driver I don't think I'd want the 2nd Red Bull seat at this point, it's a toxic situation and they clearly don't know what they want from it. They've had good drivers in Gasly, Albon and Checo and they ditched all of them.

I don't think Yuki is going to be significantly better than Lawson, he might get you a few points here and there I suppose.

Welp... here goes Yuki. Everyone confirming the Dutch reporter who is very connected.

Here's the thing though... Yuki goes there, struggles like everyone else. At what point with Red Bull look inwards and look at the car and go... y'know what, this car is ****, and Max is just superhuman.

Absolutely unreal that it's happening already lol.

Listened to the Ringer F1 pod today, Spanners and Megan were saying that apparently driving the RB is like using a mouse with the sensitivity set to maximum speed. Max is probably the only driver on the grid capable of driving it well.

They basically built a car that is inoperable for anybody but Verstappen, and now that he isn't winning races it's basically going to be crap in the constructor's championship as well. Just sounds like an insane strategy.

The brain drain is catching up with them; that and being centered so wholly around one driver who happens to be able to drive cars other guys cannot.

Feels like a poison pill for Yuki, who I'm definitely rooting for, though. Like it's now or never and you're in a seemingly impossible spot. If he does deliver at all though, good on him.

Yuki is not easy to work with historically, a major cry baby. I think that has a lot to do with him not getting the ride initially.

He toned it down the last two years though. I think he grew up a little. We shall see. He is normally the top VCarb driver the last few years. So we shall see how he reacts when Max blows his doors off. Because Max is clearly the best driver in the world and I don't think it's close. Lando and Oscar are not in his category. In basketball terms, Max is Michael Jordan and Lando and Oscar are Scotty Pippen. Great player just not close the GOAT.

Agree 100%, not sure Max is actually human.
