F1 2025 Discussion

Still enough races left that it's not over, but it feels like it's going to take something major for Oscar to not win WDC at this point. He's just too consistent this season.

Agree. He seems to handle the pressure better than Lando.
No that Lando got bit by a failed engine I think it's all over for him. Oscar would need some crazy bad luck for Lando to get back in it.

If Alex was driving for somebody other than McLaren in Indycar I think he'd be in one of the midfield teams by now.
I dunno, finishing 12th in Formula 1 maybe isn't as fun as winning championships in Indycar, and it may be a pay cut too.

Honestly not sure how much Indy car driver's make these days. However, if you succeed in F1, you will make a crap load more as a driver.

I think the pay for a midfield driver in F1 is better than winning the Indycar series. From what I can tell a good chunk of the midfield is making $6-$10mil a year in F1 where as the highest paid guy in Indycar is making $7mill with most of them making about half of that or less. As Lone Star once said, "Barf, we're not doing this for the money. We're doing it for a shitload of money."

Man if Red Bull can find pace the rest of the season. Things will be a lot better. Obviously Lando and Oscar will be 1 and 2 but a three way race will be way better
Monza is the perfect track for Red Bull. That car is still a rocket ship in a straight line and Monza has a lot of long straight lines. Handling is almost a non issue here because most of the true turns are slow speed chicanes. Whatever the Red Bull lost in the Lesmo turns and Parabolica is easily made up since so much of the track is full throttle.

It was good to see someone other than McLaren win, but I’d be surprised if this means much of a change for the rest of the season. Monza is such a hard track to judge because there just isn’t anything else remotely like it on the calendar.

I have this gut instinct that Verstappen is going to pull a Michael Jordan in the next few years. Retire from F1 and go do other racing, then make a dramatic comeback when a team is dominating and he can pick a car to drive. Not sure why. He just kind of seems bored with F1.

Yeah I can definitely see him leaving F1 "early" but if he does guessing he would be done with it for good and just do other forms of racing whenever he pleases.
