F1 2022 Discussion

Booooooring, thankfully I had to go somewhere at the beginning so I could fast forward the last half.

Isn't this always how this goes though? Monaco sucks.

Edit: Super happy for Perez though.

It's also hard to believe how poorly everything has gone for Ricciardo since leaving Red Bull. He has to regret that decision. I mean does he even finish this season?

The tv direction for the Monaco Grand Prix is atrocious. They miss so many key moments by showing useless camera shots.
I found out yesterday that Monaco has it in their contract with F1 that they get to use their own TV crew for the race, they then give the feed to Sky Sports. For anyone who hasn’t seen him, look up Aidan Millward on YouTube. He has some great stuff on current goings on, the history of F1 and racing in general

I read that too, it makes sense because it's noticeably worse, on top of the race just being boring most years.

Something I didn’t think about until now: does this pretty much guarantee Gasly moves on as well from AlphaTauri/RB?

I mean this was pretty much already assumed- just wonder where he’ll end up. Starting to feel like Daniel’s time may be coming to a close soon but I think Pato, or even Colton, could make the jump to McLaren.

I think Gasly might be just sort of stuck on back end teams even though he probably does a good job. He's just not that young anymore and there are heaps of young guys ready for their shot. Frankly Yuki has been driving just as well as him.

I think my favorite part of the race Sunday was Hamilton slowing his pace after Alonso sped up to ensure Ocon didn't score any points with his 5 second penalty

I mean yeah it all but guarantees Gasly won't ever see the RB seat again. McLaren seems like the most obvious option because Daniel just has not performed for the car he's been given. Lando is miles ahead of him. However, I'm not sold on Herta for the seat and Pato just signed a multi year deal in Indycar so I think he's out.

McLaren is Gasly's best bet or if he waits until Lewis retires, that Mercedes seat would be a good option since Merc doesn't have any juniors in the wings worthy of it. However, RB is going to be wanting to promote their juniors to AT soon so I'm not sure he can afford to wait.

Gasly is definitely in a tough spot but McLaren is really his only realistic option at this point other than that lump of a Williams.

Colton Herta isn't much of a threat for that McLaren seat in my opinion because he doesn't have the points needed for a Super License. Now if his test session in that car goes really well there are ways of getting around the lack of a super license.
Edi: Herta would qualify for a super license if he finishes the indycar season in 5th place or better.

Pato is a McLaren driver though, I'm sure they'd allow him to go race F1 if the seat was available and offered to him.

Gasly might just be stuck for the time being, although I think the chance of him ever returning to RB was pretty slim even before this.

Is anyone paying attention to the fantasy league anymore? My guess is no.

The official F1 fantasy game is pretty ****** compared to the one my buddy is in with some other people.

I think I set one up earlier in the thread and nope. Completely forgot about it.
