F1 2022 Discussion

So you get 100MM to spend on a new lineup every week? Is that how this works? I’ve never done any fantasy outside of football.

My buddy kind of explained that it’s a weekly roster thing but I assume it holds your same line up each week unless you want to swap drivers around. The rules list everything you get points (and deductions) for.

So basically I assume you could be as passive or as active as you want. Find a solid lineup or swap out depending on the upcoming track.

Gotcha. We’ll see how it goes. Not sure if I should pick a bunch of mids or go top heavy with a couple lower tier guys.

I ended up rolling with Sainz(turbo), Max, Danny, K Mag and Mick with Ferrari as my constructor.

I just finally finished the Haas episode, and you know, politics aside and not considering anything that has unfolded here in the last few months:

I honestly started to feel bad for Nikita around the summer break last season. Let me clarify that the video that came out after he was announced/before he started was extremely repulsive and he just felt like the prime example of a pay driver.

Then hundreds of comments from fans across F1 before the season began “never Mazepin.” He seemed arrogant and frankly unapologetic. He didn’t seem qualified. Haas comes out with the Russian flag/Uralkali livery. He seemed like he was undeserving. He just seemingly had no backing aside from his Dad and their money.

And then when the season started he just never seemed able to build confidence. He became the punchline to maybe 80% of F1 memes and jokes.

Now examine from today’s lens: It’s weird to think that he basically got live his F1 dream but only for one year, and it may have likely turned into his own nightmare (highly doubt he or Uralkali will be back). To me, it is weird to ponder but, the whole ties to Putin and Russia thing aside, if Haas weren’t so desperate in that time and had his Dad given him a couple more seasons to better prepare and gain more experience, could he have made it to F1? Would he have stuck longer than a season?

I don't think Nikita is a very good driver so I don't think it would have mattered. Look at his racing career accomplishments against someone like Norris, Russell, or even Mick. Those guys were winning multiple championships in various racing series on their way to F1. Even someone like Lance Stroll, a pretty prototypical pay driver, was winning championships before he got his F1 spot. Mazepin doesn't really have much success at all to speak of.

That’s basically where I’m at too with the thought, so it’s just crazy to see how the circumstances all lined up in order for him to even get a shot- even if it was a short lived one.

Vettel out with Covid. Gonna have to change my fantasy lineup now.

I too wonder if I remember to keep things updated by week lol.
I often messed that up when I used to play fantasy football.

I don't follow it enough to know for sure, but is there potential for the new cars to throw a wrench into the establishment?
You don’t really learn much about race pace in FP1, the teams are gathering tire and aero data. FP2 will see some attempts at speed to figure out their setup for qualifying.

We shall see. These rule changes are massive. My money is on the first few races being an odd mix of different teams looking really good and fading back. Then as the season gets really going, I'll bet we start to see a clear few teams that seem to have some things figured out.
