Everything Jakolby Long thread

Obviously, there will likely be a drop-off from this year's team, or the teams the last few years, but to jump to a conclusion that next year's team won't make the NCAA is taking things too far, imho.

For one thing......there are still a lot of unknowns about next year's team. Will Naz get his redshirt? Will Monte be back? Unlike most on here, I'm not convinced at all that Monte will declare this year, largely because there are several point guards this year who will get drafted ahead of him, and I'm not so sure he will leave if he is likely only a second round pick.

We also have no idea how these players will gel next year, or Prohm's ability to form a team around "his" players, which many of these will be next year. The talent will be there; it just depends on whether or not this staff can form a cohesive team out of them. I do want to see ISU get one more big though.......just for depth purposes primarily.

Be patient, enjoy this year, keep following the recruits' season, and let's not pre-judge too much. It's kind of a wasted effort at this point if you think about it.

I look forward to a report!

His 1st half was....unimpressive. You can tell he scores going to the hole vs. lesser competition. In this game, when pressured, he either turned it over, got a charge, or threw up bad shot. Having said that, I'm going to remember it's a high school game plus hope the 2nd half shows more promise. Yikes!
Still young , good size.

Two straight 3's from Jakolby. Hasn't played the greatest but his team does shoot it a lot before even giving him a look.

Just started watching. What is his number?

#1. Idk, either he's having a tough night or the opponent's best defender is all over him. But better ..he just hit back to back threes! Announcers have been begging for him to get going all game . Maybe he'll finish strong.

How good is the opposing team supposed to be? Long has been playing fairly well, since I started watching, 8 pts.

I'm not sure why they aren't going to him down the stretch. But the best player on the floor was his teammate Haywood.... of course being looked at by none other than Texas.

I started watching second half when they said he was 2-8. Drilled 2 threes in a row to get them back in it and was taking over the game at that point. I was impressed at least with his second half.

For whatever reason his teammates didn't really look his way. Probably caused him to force it a little bit. One game with struggles shouldn't worry anyone. It's going to happen. When you're the main focus on your team the other team is going to be all over you. Solomon Young tweeted out frustration the other day after being triple teamed and scoring 8 points. Malou has dealt with the same stuff. Scored 1 point in his last game because of it. Young bounced back with 23 points against a top 5 caliber recruit. I'm sure Malou and Long will do the same.

@JamieShaw Iowa St has churned out stars that fit the mold of Mustang (OK) Jakolby Long. Great fit!

Long's team is playing in a tourney of some sort today. The game just reached halftime, but here is the link for the stream if anyone is interested:

Long has 13 points and 8 rebounds in the first half.

Also, if you need to kill some time before ISU's game......Oakland with SDW and Percy is playing Virginia right now on ESPNU.
