Erin Andrews leaving ESPN

I think people are confused as to what Erin's role (or any sports reporter, for that matter) is supposed to be. She's a sports reporter, not a sports analyst. People who expect in-depth analysis out of any sideline reporter are bound to be disappointed because that's not their job. Their job is to report on the "goings-on" of the game that the pxp and color guy can't cover, such as injury, coaching strategy (or at least what they're willing to reveal) because they're too focused on covering the actual game.

Erin Andrews is a decent enough sports reporter. Anyone that thinks otherwise is probably expecting her to do something that wasn't her job in the first place.

Ya got me there.....Me personally, I just want the damn information relayed through the TV smoothly and competently. I don't care if it's an 80 year old man, 400 pound woman or a purple transvestite wearing a dress. I want someone with communication ability to clearly speak and not sound stupid while doing it.

+ 1,000,000. This is what I've tried to express in a couple of my own posts on this thread, but I think you wrote it better than I have so far.

It seems to me like some people have, for whatever reason, just made up their minds to dislike Erin Andrews, and I think that for whatever reason there was a small but noticeable backlash against her that started when the whole hotel room/videotaping thing happened, and I noticed it both nationally and even here on this board.

Back to her leaving ESPN...wow, that's not good for ESPN at the moment, especially with Beadle going to NBC recently (which I didn't even know about until reading this thread). Is Jenn Brown going to take Andrews place?

Losing Beadle would have been a lot worse if they didn't already have Charissa Thompson waiting in the wings - someone who is just as good looking (if not moreso) than Beadle and definitely smarter than her, and perhaps even smarter than Colin Cowherd as she puts him in his place on an almost daily basis.
