Emmanuel Malou

Maybe this is why Walgreens is kicking Osco's behind so badly. No business can afford to lose money in perpetuity just so that their competitor loses money too.

Malou has to be a player that Self sees as scholarship worthy for him to offer. Why did Self not try to swoop in and pick up Soloman Young at the last minute if he's just out to undercut ISU?

Of course, on point 2 Walgreens wouldn't set up shop in an area with bad traffic either. The numbers have to work. The point is there are dozens of potential street corners that are good and Power Forwards that are really good all anyone is saying is the fact it is stealing from ISU is big time gravy.

No, but he's not recruiting them and/or offering them just because ISU did.

My god, I didn't realize the conspiracy theorists were so damned aplenty around here.

I know for a fact that Bill Self does do this. A few weeks ago I was at KU and I was at a Chick Fillet. I was in my ISU shirt and about ready to order the last chicken sandwich when Bill Self quickly budged in front of me. He ordered it and when he received it, he looked me square in the eyes with a smile on his face and said FXXX You! and threw the sandwich in the trash. So I have no doubt he is out to get ISU.

In current basketball terms - Jameel McKay dominated KU in the paint turning Perry Ellis & KU into a jump shooting perimeter player/team. KU's current supporting cast is not good enough to compete with ISU on the perimeter & Self knows that, he needs to neutralize Jameel Mckay. Enter Cheick Diallo an athletic, mobile, big man & proclaimed 1 & done guy. Without a Joel Embiid, Cheick Diallo, or a paint presence the KU equation falls apart. KU can't overplay or be as aggressive on defensive without a rim protector. Offensively, KU's offensive has spacing issues without a legitimate big man in the paint. Malou makes sense for Self, he helps the KU conundrum & hurts his competition.

I agree with everything you are saying, but I'm not sure Malou is the same type of player as McKay or Diallo. McKay and Diallo are solely paint players on offense and rim protectors on defense. From what I've heard and a little seen, Malou is much more versatile, with more range on offense, and probably not as good at low post defense.

I agree but Malou is crazy athletic and long - defensively he is going to create problems around the rim - alter/block shots - and with limited offensive talent KU needs to spark their offense with their defense - fast breaks, steals, block shots ect The "stop gap" guy (defensively) in the paint is absolutely critical to them - Malou can be that with his skill set.

This is why Malou and Arlando Cook should be able to play with one another and not reduce the other's playing time. Malou can probably play 3-5 whereas Cook is more of a true 4.

Hinrich committed to ISU before his KU offer. Then Floyd traded him to Roy Williams, KU offered he excepted and decommitted if IIRC. I can't recall us ever landing a recruit Kansas has offered. That is sad.

Yeah that was my recollection. Iowa State offered first and then Kansas got him.

We've never gotten a recruit after KU offers, so I'm just guessing Malou is the longest of long shots at this point.

I can't remember a JUCO that was brought in by KU as anything other than bench fodder. I agree on this point for HS kids but Malou being a JUCO changes things.

Without wading thru a 1000 posts, does anyone know when Malou will commit?

Luck for you there's only 855 posts. Should take no time at all!

I wish there was a better way to organize recruiting. Even just a sticky post like nallen34 has been putting together that gets updated would be better IMO.
Most people just want to know when a recruit will visit or when they visited, other schools recruiting them and when they plan to make a decision.

These mega threads for each player plus the Recruit Lists v2.0 are daunting.

My guess is that ISU ends up getting Malou. Just a guess.

If you don't want to put in the work you don't deserve the results!
