Dry January

consider me in the category of thinking dry January is dumb.

why does it have to me a specific month?

if you wanna stop for a month, stop for a month.

I don’t understand it lol

Agree. I’m not sure who comes up with this but January is one of the best drinking months. Loads of good football, it’s freezing ass in Iowa, and about twenty other reasons. Actually now that I think about it, no month is a good month to quit

Life is short. Dont do it.

I had my first sober Thanksgiving since 1994 this year. It was not as joyous.

Since October I’ve probably had fewer than 10 drinks total, and no more than 1 in a single sitting. Before this I’d probably gone about a week tops without getting drunk since the late ‘90s a few times when I had the flu or other illnesses.

Cherish every drop while you can.

Just easier with the news years resolutions things people have going on and people tend to be more understanding of it in circles that might not normally be.

Totally agree that it doesn’t have to be Jan or even a whole month, could just be a random 30 days which I personally recommend most people try

Going for #5-6? I had a successful run last year from New Year's to St Paddy's Day. I also stuck to zero sugar sodas. Now I'm cutting out sugary Starbucks/Scooters as well. That may actually be tougher for me. This will be my 3rd round of self control. Who's with me?

I need my caffeine so nope I'm out.

Yes sir, but I am doing a slightly modified version of it again this year. Probably starting on Sunday through the first week of February.

diet coke main that is thinking about a year with no booze

would like to lose weight, but i do have a pool and those summer drinks go down so easy. I'm just gonna take it 1 month at a time.

Go with your username and get some THC drinks

I think I’ve had a strawberry one and it was good, but Sam’s Club usually only has the OG
the vanilla, cherry vanilla and cream sodas are really good if you find them. We have about 4/5 different kinds in the work fridge at the moment with all the DC and energy drinks

One of the things that has kept me off the sauce for years is becoming obsessed with working out and staying in shape. I've used my slight OCD in ways that are to my advantage. Addiction and boredom can be a detrimental combination. And it is tougher in a place like Iowa where it's cold and you are stuck inside. I realize it's not possible for a lot of people but getting to a warmer climate works wonders for happiness. I loved living in greater PHX when I did.

with all due respect. im up to my gills in THC already
Whatever works. Be careful that you don't get bored on weed though. Try and keep it where it's more like a reward daily instead of a habit is the key. I never smoke weed until I get home from work. If you're high all day(like a lot of people I work with) what is the reward from a hard day's work? As weird as it sounds I've found understanding how my addictive mind works and how to manipulate myself is the key.
