Doke done for season

I hate to see guys get season ending injuries, even KU guys. Despite the general hate that he generated, Bill Self i s a great coach, and will find a way to make it work without him. Still has more McDonald All-Americans than ISU.

Agreed.

There are two kinds of hate in sports -

1) DNA/cold blooded hate. The hate I have for the hoks. It is irrational and irresistible. It never subsides. I hate everything to do with Hok sports and fans.

2) Professional hate - hate for the success and competition an opponent offers. I hate KU basketball but not Self or the players. I don't hate KU football because, who cares.

Azibuke seems like a good kid and has a bright future. Would just as soon beaten them in Lawrence with him playing next time.

Hope things turn out ok for him.

As for # of AA's Self has - he could of had 2 dozen Saturday and would still be weeping Boo U Tears.

So whats it take to end their streak. Let’s say TTech, Oklahoma, and 2 (WVU, KSU, Texas, TCU will all be tough games) other hold serve against them at home. Can 1 team knock them off at the Phog? That puts them at 12-6. I have to think ISU or TTech or someone else can get to 13 wins.

My heart does not bleed for Kansas injuries are part of the game. Sucks for the kid though. Wiggs missing the 1st half of the season hurt us, Niang breaking foot in sweet 16 is a ball slicer, part of the game.

Yeah, someone will elevate to make up for it, much as we did. Still need to take it from them.

We have to remember the Big 12 is a marathon and not a sprint and that Bill Self is the best marathon coach of all time. They have the talent so it will be an interesting season for sure.

I see "brake pump" guy and "knowledge drop" guy have predictably made their appearances in the thread.

I got this!

It will take some other Big 12 team holding court at home and having a winning record on the road.

We had this same conversation after 2 games of Big 12 play last season. KU was fresh off a lackluster beatdown at home by Texas Tech and Dok was out for the year and everyone smelled blood in the water. Then the rest of the league went on the road and lost a bunch of games to the bottom half of the league and KU didnt and KU won the title comfortably.

KU isnt dead and no one has shown they can win consistently on the road. Lots of games to go still.

No, to be the man you have to beat the man AND everyone else. Beating KU is one win. Gotta get to 14 most likely.

Not sure why there was a "no" response to KCBOB's post. What he said is true. ISU has to be "the man" and then that would be a road win (and 2 wins against) KU. Plus he said that the conference was a Marathon (not a sprint or one-on-one competition) - implying that there is more than one other competitor to beat.

Andy Katz thinks that TTU and ISU are now strong contenders, in Doke's absence. I think this is VERY premature, given Kansas' unprecedented dominance of the conference. That's still a talented roster.

KBoo fans last week:
“We’re better without Doke”

KBoo fans in March:
“We would have won the conference with Doke.”

Most years KU would have Silvio and still win. Now that cheating is tougher, the streak is in jeopardy

So... basically the exact scenario is described?
