Fred was good at inbounds plays. Johnny Orr was amazing at drawing some inbound plays. Bill Fennelly is pretty good at this too. Part of it is we usually have Caleb inbounding and I think he struggles a bit.

That foul/ tackle that wasn’t called on Linsey was a better tackle than all season by th Oklahoma football team
I remember Fred having really creative inbounds plays too, but it seemed like in crunch time it gets harder for us than others. Probably just my negativity.
Not going to lie, i was a little nervous with the "fly pattern" lob to Osun, but it worked.
I don't think this team has a problem....i think this team and coaches are very in tune with what to work on and I'd imagine these are lessons to learn from/work around. Things like when to spend a time out vs save it in situations like this are all coachable.

Lol. And his feeble attempt to block the shot. But of course he doesn't, because... well he can't block any shot.
I think Caleb is making the pass cause he’s not the quickest or a great ball handler. Obviously Tamin would have been open without the arm tackle. This is where we miss having a backup point like Jackson as well, then maybe Gabe can be the passer. But turns out passing to Osun was a great idea.
That makes sense. Even teams that are good with inbounds plays can struggle toward the end of games because the intensity goes way up. Not really concerned with this game because others mentioned Tamin was fouled. It is a concern going forward because we've struggled even with light inbounds pressure at times under TJ. I think we had two turnovers at K-State last year due to inbounds issues.
I think Grill is the inbounder because he was a high level QB and can throw it where it needs to go.
I think we lack good ball handlers besides Lipsey and it is a problem breaking the press. Hopefully a thing we have been working on since Iowa game. Positioning the bigs correctly can help sometimes and I am gaining some confidence in Osun. Don’t want to see Big Rob dribbling much.
I also think Caleb's arm strength to get the ball down the court is why he takes it out. That and TJ trusts his decision making. Not saying I fully agree with having Caleb throwing it in, but I think it all ends up working out. As you said, he's not the quickest or the best ball handler.
I actually think the seal by Osun and lob over the top was a terrific play call. The success rate of that play was incredibly high as long as Caleb threw a good pass (which he did).
Yes, we have an inbounding problem. Not enough plays, all the same. Even though Lipsey was tackled he still didn't cut immediately to the ball, I don't think I saw any screens set. Yes, Lipsey is a better ball handler than Grill, but he is also a way way better passer and has great sight of where everyone is on the floor.
In last night's situation they were going to foul immediately so ball handling wasn't going to be an issue, and grill can sink free throws!

I don't know if it's a coach problem...to me, it looks more like an execution problem. Guys going around the court or setting screens, but not getting any separation from defenders. Lipsey tackle notwithstanding.
Tamin would’ve been wide open had he not been tackled. He set his man up perfectly. You don’t need an inbounds play to get the ball in. Usually unless a TO is called for a specific situation, you’re just running basic actions where you trust your guys to set screens, get open, and make the correct pass.

Just did another 6 times. Love how Woodbury's arms are actually going away from Kane in that feeble attempt.
Was that all Kane having situational awareness? Or was he coached to be looking for Woodbury to turn his back? Seems to me like it was just wonderful serendipity.
