DISHWASHER RECOMMENDATIONS

The best and quietest dishwasher I've ever had was a Bosch. It only lasted four years but that is par for the course in Marion, where we have the worst water in the world. Since then I buy the best I can get for the least amount of money, knowing it's only going to last four years. If I lived somewhere with decent water I'd get the best Bosch money could buy and never look back.

So with Sears going out of business in Des Moines soon, I'm keeping a close eye on if they're going to try and get rid of inventory. Current dishwasher works, I just hate it because it leaves dishes wet often. Not needing one, but if I can get a good deal I might jump on it.

What's everyone's thoughts on Kenmore? I've always liked them, but with Sears going down, I'm not sure what the future of Kenmore will be and not sure about the current quality if the company will be going down with Sears.

I was bidding work for frigidaire When they were still in Webster City. They were in process of shutting down their dishwasher line for the day to switch over to Kenmores. We have had a couple. They are fine.

Biggest thing to avoid are the detergent pods. The plastic will eat the pump up.

My Kenmore is a few yrs old but I really like it. Never have had a problem with it. Does a good job both washing and drying.

I'm in a similar boat, dishwasher going downhill, but not dead yet. Let me know if anyone in the DSM are sees a fantastic deal!

Our Bosch is very quiet, and does a great job.....but sometimes it will stop in the middle of the cycle and I have to open the door and pull upward slightly when I close it. Then it will start again. I'm wondering if I shouldn't shim up the front a little bit. Any handymen/technicians out there that know anything about this?

I worked at the Webster City plant, we didn't manufacture dishwashers, only laundry, unless that changed at the very end.

There isn't a Kenmore plant. So when people ask their thoughts on them, they could be manufactured by LG, GE, Electrolux, Whirlpool depending on the appliance.

Now, I own a Bosch dishwasher. Low to mid 40's dB rating, it shoots a red laser on the floor to let you know its on. Its probably the best appliance in our house.

Probably was washing machines, thanks for the correction. It was 20 years ago and I'm getting older.

Put a Bosch in my old house and put a Bosch in my current house. New one is 42 dB. Laser is key, although the way my wife loads dishes, I can hear those clanking a bit when it runs.

We just got a new GE dishwasher. Had great reviews and was highly recommended.

We have this model, https://www.nfm.com/DetailsPage.aspx?productid=46291431, and it is amazingly quiet. A huge deal when you have an open floor plan as most of us do in this day and age. I wanted a Bosch based on their quiet reviews, but so glad we went this way. All of our appliances match, (slate finish), and I wouldn't need one any quieter than this one. The top rack is adjustable, and there is another rack on above the top for knives, so that you aren't stabbing yourself.

We were told the third rack was the only difference between those 2 models. Glad to hear your positive review.
