Disappointed with Nealy

Yeah... you know what I saw on Saturday? More plays then I could count where ISU had lineman standing up with nobody to block so they just stood there. On one play in particular Ethan Tuftee stood up, his man dropped into coverage, he circled back into the backfield, and then tripped and fell down as Barnett scrambled for no gain. The guy didn't lay a finger on an Okie State player the entire play but did manage to put a tremendous hit on the field turf as he faceplanted.

No trying to be a jerk here but you are talking about a lineman going to the second level on a pass play, that would be a penalty so Im glad he didnt do that.

I get what you are saying but when you rage on players and use bad examples your argument loses merit.

It was a QB draw IIRC. I would have to watch the game again. Of course we don't want ineligible lineman downfield on pass plays but in regard to the running plays you can't just stand around... find someone wearing enemy colors and hit them.

6 pages of armchair commentary over someone saying, "Throw the ******* ball where I can catch it"!!!!!

Only here.

I don't care if it's "football" or fans wanted to see emotion b/c the offense was frustrating all day.....What Devondrick Nealy did on the field was flat out wrong, PERIOD. You don't show up another player on your team, let alone the Quarterback. There is no doubt in my mind that Nealy heard about it from the coaching staff after the game. You just don't do that.

With that said, what he did leads to a bigger issue. We have no leadership at a position where leadership is most needed. Does anyone really think Nealy would have ever done that to Austen Arnaud or Bret Meyer? Hell no. And the team wouldn't have let him get away with it either. But nobody looks up to our current QB's and thus we have redshirt freshmen RB's that haven't done squat in their careers yelling at them on the field. Seriously? Devondrick Nealy? Maybe the kid is all world talent, but at this time in his career he has done nothing, so shut your mouth, get back in the huddle, and find a way to help this team win some games.

I hope White comes back this week and we bench Nealy and he gets no snaps. That's how much I thought of his childish tirade on the field. And I was one of the people hoping he would get more carries all year. But the kid has to learn a lesson about what it's like to play on a team. You don't call out your teammates like that on the field

I saw that as well, and most of the time it was a scheme issue with our jacked-up slide protection we have been using up front. OL slide and leave the DE for the RB. Problem is we slid away from their blitzes so the OL had 2 for 5 guys to block and the RB had 2 guys he had to block on his own. OL is taught to continue sliding to the call

Not a big deal, at all. Glad he showed some emotion.

I admit I have bought into the hype of Nealy. But was anyone else ****** at his behavior on the field. I couldn't tell if it was just frustration with the offense or if he was being a selfish jerk. I understand the frustration but I still don't think it warrants a TT by freshman trying to get playing time.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it. The offense has been **** and he was showing emotion about a QB not being able to get the ball to him without a skip. Maybe upperclassmen need to show some emotion and show some leadership.

I would hardly call it a tirade. In fact, I went back and rewatched it. I don't even know that he directed anything specifically at Jantz. I think it was straight out frustration in general. He swats the ball away, maybe says something but then turns back to the sideline and Jantz gives him a little pat on the back which I'm not doing if someone is showing me up. Does he need to control that stuff? Yes, but he's 19 and our offense got it's *** kicked all day and for me, it was nice to be able to tell someone gave a ****.

But you're right. Without James White there is no leadership. Why isn't Burris showing any? Why isn't Young or Horne showing any? I think it goes back to identity. On defense, Knott, Klein and Washington have made it clear to their teammates how to work and how to perform. You see this same stuff in the secondary at times. Washington will get in peoples faces. I realize he's done something but when a junior RB, TE and freshman WRs are the only ones who look like they give a flying **** all day, something is wrong. Someone needs to get the team together and as young as this offense is I don't think anyone feels like they garner that command.

Showing emotion can be great. But he was being a little *****, not being a leader. I'm gonna guess he (rightfully) loses playing time this week for that outburst.

This. It is never a good thing to show up your teammates - especially if you are a freshman. I have to believe that everyone in an ISU uniform wanted to win and passionately so. To act like you are the only one upset with that performance was punkish. IMO And he deserves some bench time - or better yet he decides ON HIS OWN to apologize to the rest of the team before practice this week. If he is man enough to do that then the squeak you hear will be my shoes hitting his bandwagon

I think Farniok needs to step up and become the leader of the offense.

I can agree with this, but correct if I'm wrong - isn't he a sophomore? I don't think it could ever be to early for someone to step up, but I can see why he hasn't just yet with so many upper classmen with more experience are also on the field.

On the Nealy topic, I'm not disappointed in Nealy, perhaps he's said something about that frustration being directed at Jantz, but when I watched the play, Jantz patted him on the back and it looked like he was trying to calm him down. I'm not sure someone who is being ******* at would pat that person on the back. Regardless, I'm happy he showed some emotion. It does show he cares in my opinion.

I hope it's not a look behind the curtains at an offense that is in the final stages of melting down.

It's about time someone showed us something... This whole "oh, golley gee whiz we just went three and out again" **** needs to stop.

Then how did Arnaud earn his leadership? Because he played like dog **** most of his career. A couple of years ago everyone on here sat and ******* out Arnaud because of his throws in the dirt and bad QB play.

You want to show us something? Make a play! Showing us you can throw a tantrum on the field isn't showing us anything. I think it's funny that people think Nealy wanted it more than everyone else on the team just b/c he acted like a child.

Instead of ******** Nealy, go make a play and help this team out

Being 19 isn't an excuse. It isn't. Nealy has played football since he was 6 years old I'm sure. He knows now how to act on the field and if he doesn't he never will.

Now whether the tantrum was aimed at Jantz or not, well I guess we won't know. I thought it was, if not, still shouldn't have happened
