I was going to humble brag about being ~3,600 miles from Glendale and then see you're in friggin' Norway? Active duty? What are you farming over there? Glacial silt and volcanic pummus? Blondes?

Yeah, this CFB season is really a boondoggle in many ways. But here we are. Looking forward to a great game against ISU. Good luck to your squad as well.

Wondering if you remember this incident from a few years ago? This is a small school in the NW corner of our state (even closer to Norway!)

Anyone care to research the amount of NCAA violations during the raise of the Ducks football program? Interesting reading.
It's all pretty tame stuff once you dig in. "La Affair de Willie Lyles" was largely overblown since many schools were also using "scouting services," we just got busted for paying with a check when we thought it was above-board. It was born out of the failures of Texas to keep recruits in state more than anything else.

The NCAA has come down on us for making comic books for crying out loud. We're not out paying players and covering up sex abuse. I think the worst of it frankly was when JJ Arrington and our RB Coach Gary Campbell had a LOI infraction with Arrington's parents.

What are yall gonna do when your coach leaves for a better school?

Do you want to talk football at all or do you just want to talk smack about us? If its the former cool, if all you want to do is throw pot-shots at those of us who came over then you're leaving me with a fine opinion of most texans I already know.

Duck07 ----- take it easy man..

This is one of our best seasons ever, probably best ever. If we play our normal schedule this year, we end up with 10 wins. Never been done before at ISU. We would like to get to where your program currently stands - multiple B6 bowls, 10 win seasons, consistent top 25 rankings, etc..

I assume you were just joking trying if you think ISU fans think our overall program compares to Oklahoma. We know it doesn't. However, we are competitive with them now - and feel we can be competitive with most.

I think you are right about the WV thing. When I first read that, I thought it was a negative towards Oregon. Maybe it's related to us just having recently beat WV 45-0. WV has been pretty solid generally speaking in the BigXII, if I were to want compared to a team (Oregon or WV), I would want compared to Oregon.

We're mostly humble fans that are generally pretty intelligent about the game (broadly speaking), and we much prefer the football strategy talk to the "all time program quality" put-down talk, etc..

I'm good, it just felt like it was time to haul a can of paint to the top of the water tower for a moment with a few of the comments.
I Respect that. And the analogy will go along way around here. Well done

Cool.. thanks. I hear you with the commenters...

I can also probably picture an (understandable) general "uggh Iowa State - what's the fun in that" initial reaction at the Bowl announcement, but our team is vastly different from the normal national perception. My hope now is that it translates into recruiting and/or we keep the staff and culture in place to keep things moving forward.

I remember seeing a stat that your team has around (45) 4* and 5* players, and we have (4) total I think. That just seems so crazy to me.

For me, this will be a nervous but hopefully fun game...

Don't get bent out of shape. You don't have to agree with the comparison. I don't either. I think Oregon is a MUCH better program than WVU.
This. Idk a lot about UO other than they have had a couple of national championship caliber teams and I view WV just a couple notches above Baylor’s rotten ass

I think the biggest thing was simply about ending up on ESPN and not Fox for promotional purposes. When it comes to recruiting advantages, whenever you play a bowl game your opponent is always the greatest team ever so that when you win it looks good and if you lose it was only to the greatest team ever. Mario and staff know how to present that image to recruits so we wouldn't want to rag on your program for those very same reasons.

That tweet I found awfully telling about how our recruiting has changed with Mario. USC is the only other school out West whose "floor" is close to ours.

Can you change your thread title to Dis the Ducks?

Maybe add a poll of favorite animals, making sure to include beavers, huskies and ducks?

Any other animals to add? Clearly beavers will win though. Who does love a good Beav once in a while

Man, since the Duck fans have such a low opinion of WVU, that can't bode well for what they think of us.

I just compared them. Of course there is more weight to what's happened recently, but because somehow an imaginary cutoff of 2000 and nothing before counts is just dumb. So in that case Oregon would be on par historically with Notre Dame? I hate the Irish, but that's a joke.

And since 2000 West Virginia still won 10 or more games 5 times, including a run with three straight 11-win seasons from 2005-2007. In the last 15 years they have won a Sugar, Fiesta and Orange Bowl.

Damn you Duck fans have me talking somewhat nicely about WVU. Excuse while I go throw up a bit.

Back to the real fun though, I have always had a soft spot for Oregon. Wanted you guys to win both of those National Championship Games. Especially against Cam Newton and our former dbag of a coach.
I don’t think 2000 is random. That’s two decades of data.....

From what I’ve seen on their board that’s not a pay to play one, they don’t really have an opinion because they don’t know anything about us.
