Derecho Claims and Information

I'm not going to give out names because I don't want to ruin the company itself but my desk agent has been kind of a pain to work with...I'm assuming they've been busy but I haven't had much assistance and feel like asking for money is like pulling teeth.

Ended up having just 3 holes in the roof, one of the limbs went completely through the roof and attic, flooded our second room floor, which found a hole to leak to our main floor kitchen and, of course, the basement.

Roofing company called and said the current estimate from the insurance company isn't even close to what they're expecting it to cost. Fortunately, they're working with the company directly to ensure they're getting their money and coming back to me frequently to confirm we're getting what we want.

My company is Nationwide. The adjuster was out in 7 days and they mailed me a check 3 days after that. Paid me for my spoiled food and miscellaneous personal property that was destroyed and for estimated cost for repairs. My home is just under 2 years old. The home damage I have is broken windows, missing siding, loose/missing fascia and downspouts, missing shingles, and a crumpled garage door. Payment on most repairs seems a little low to me, but I am not sure since I cannot get anyone to come give me an estimate yet. The garage door has been ordered, company said it may take up to 8 weeks to get. They charged me right at what the insurance company paid so maybe the other figures will be in line as well.

I just want to get things fixed before the snow flies as most of my damage is not severe, but holes in windows are not good in the winter time!

One thing I still will probably push for is additional insulation. When the storm caved in my garage door, the wind blew my attic access door up into the attic and the insulation that was in the attic has areas that are hollowed out. The insulation was blowing out my soffit and I had little white specks all over the side of my house. I showed it to the adjuster but I didn't see anything about it from the insurance settlement. Has anyone else had this?

I got five checks in the mail today. One of which was around $4,200 that I don't know what it is for.:oops:
Spend it first, ask questions later or call my claims specialist to ask him what his cut is? ;);)

I am like 26 or 27th on my roofers list. He told me he has over 500 jobs and I have some friends that are planning use him and they haven't heard back from him yet.

Still fighting with insurance to cover the A/C. Have someone coming to quote it tomorrow to submit to them.
